It was exactly what I wanted since I have to avoid soy (which is what shortening is made from these day) but, after receiving the item, found it locally for less than half of what I paid. Oh, well, live and learn...

I use this stuff to make bark butter for my wild bird feeder (1cup lard, 1 cup peanut butter, 1 cup flour and four cups cornmeal). The birds and squirrels go nuts for it and I have to make a new batch every few days. Looks like I'll be buying lots of lard.

I used this to make animal fat soap. It created a bright white bar.

I use it to make soap... love it.
