These make a very nice latte with a nice milk chocolate flavor and good crema. Not bitter at all. Mine had over a year before the best-before date. Please note that the use-buy date is in the European format DD/MM/YYY, not MM/DD/YYYY.
People complaining about defective pods take note - you are trying to brew immediately AFTER steaming and the water is wayyyy too hot still. Steam temps are much higher than brew temps. That is why the pod is failing. Either BREW FIRST or give the water some time to cool. You can also cool the thermoblock by using an empty pod and flush a bit of water through before using the brew pod. Anyhow, pods are just fine, this is user error.

ANOTHER EDIT: tried ordering again, and box arrived open again. Why would the seller ship a case of visibly open product meant for human consumption?
Edit: ordered these again and the box arrived open and resealed with packing tape. Pretty bogus that the seller would ship a "food" item that had clearly been opened before. Amazon refunded my purchase price.
Tastes great and arrived same day within hours. Can't beat it. I wasted a trip to my local Italian food market thinking they'd have this for sure but they didn't. Got home and ordered from Amazon and they were on my doorstep in a few hours.
