The addition of wood chips in this formula vs the old paper bedding I had bought makes this a far more economical solution for our two rabbits, whose hutch needs frequent changing.
I have also recently discovered that the untreated cardboard used in amazon boxes is entertaining for them to play with, and they have been ripping up small boxes to build a cardboard floor on the mesh floor we have. This should keep them a little more cosy as the weather gets colder.

The Perfect Bedding for My Guinea Pig

I use this bedding for my guinea pig and I love it. They are a great quality for a great price. I purchased these for the first time at a local pet store and the price was almost triple what I can get them for on here (Amazon) and the bags were much smaller. I purchased five of these bags (69.4L) at one time because I just couldn't beat the price and I knew that they would get used. The bag is very tightly packed with the softwood shavings and soft bedding so you get a very good amount. My guinea pigs cage is 30.7"(L)x18.9"(W)x19.7"(H) and the pan/bottom is approximately 7.5" deep. When I fully clean his cage, which is normally every other day, I usually add about 3"-4" deep of shavings and one bag will last me approximately 4 to 5 cleanings. I have totes that I keep the shavings in after the bag has been opened to keep the bedding dry and free of bugs. One of these bags completely fills one tote.

I have been buying this product for well over a year now and it is recently gone downhill in a hurry. What used to be almost 99% dust free and a bag that was so compressed it would almost explode when opening is now full of dust and hardly compressed at all. I used to get 3 cage changes with 1 bag and would buy 3 or 4 bags at a time. Now, I get 2 changes and a bag full of dust particles. I will try the product 1 more time and if the quality does not improve, I will be searching for alternatives.

I have bought this bedding for our rabbit for a while. It used to be pretty good, clean, dry, odor free. But the most recent pack is very disappointing that there is so much dust into, it feels like made from wood waste, not from wood chips. I hope next pack will be good as before, otherwise I would stay away from this product.

We had been using the softer Carefresh Complete Paper bedding, but decided to try this Carefresh Shavings Plus because it was less expensive. However, it started to smell much quicker, and is definitely rougher than what our hamster is used to. It says right on the package 5-day Odor Control, where the paper bedding is labeled 10-day odor control, and that seems to be true. For now, I'm putting the softer paper bedding in her house and using the shavings plus in the rest of the cage until it is used up. We will not be buying the shavings-type of bedding again.
