Serves the intended purpose just fine. I actually used the two racks mounted vertically to lean surf boards on their end against the shed wall. Worked perfectly. Good construction for the cost.
Works well for tripods

We didn't use it for surf boards, because there is no surf in the desert...
Instead, we used it to hold our tripods and strobe modifiers for our photography. This works out very well for our use. We can fit quite a bit of equipment on each "shelf" and the arms seem sturdy enough. The padding is overkill for our needs, but it will keep those surf boards nice. The wood is light yet strong, and the build quality is excellent. It came with four 3" wood screws. We only used two, and supplemented with hollow wall anchors, as our studs were spaced too far apart from each other.

Super psyched about this board/ski rack. Hangs on the wall super easily in the garage, taking up no floor space and looks great too. Highly recommend!

Could you make it yourself with $20 and an afternoon? Yes. Will you, and if you did, would it be quite as nice? Nope.
Minus one star for not being a more reasonable $50 instead of $55. $55 plus shipping is pushing it.
