Very happy with the grilling cedar planks!

My husband and I were looking for grilling cedar planks that were high quality, but also at a reasonable price.
We found both. We received 12 awesome grilling cedar planks for a fantastic price! Now we can grill a lot more items at one time with a pack of 12 vs. most planks come in a pack of 2.
We highly recommend these grilling planks. The merchant even followed up to make sure we were happy with their product.
That alone is a sign of a company who cares not only cares about their product being successful, but a company who cares about their customers being happy!

Great cedar flavor

I've tried several different cedar grilling planks and like the flavor imparted by the Fire and Flavor planks the best of those I've tried. Someone commented that the planks would benefit from sanding. However, I believe the rough surface is part of the reason the planks impart a better cedar flavor. Fire and Flavor used to produce a "gourmet" line that was about 9/16" thick. I found that I was able to reuse the thicker plank multiple times as long as the fish I was cooking didn't contain enough oil to spill over the edge of the plank and catch fire. Also, the 15" (large) planks are better for cooking the large salmon or steelhead filets you can buy at Costco. I haven't yet tried the smaller planks being reviewed here, but expect them to impart the same excellent cedar flavor as the larger planks that I prefer. It remains to be seen how many times, if any, the thinner planks can be reused.

Different planks from different manufacturers do impart a different flavor to the food. I have used these several times and have received compliments on the smell of the smoke during cooking, and rave reviews on the flavor of the fish (salmon in dill sauce is my go-to preparation). Even left over food the next day (on toast) had a significant smoke aroma and flavor that comes from the planks.
Key cooking practice is to keep the temperature of the grill in the 250-300 degree F range... higher than that and you have potential for a acrid smoke and flames, which IMO creates a less appealing piece of fish.
In my experience a "low and slow" approach to cooking is always the best.

I decided after years of cooking salmon in the oven or on the stove top to give these cedar planks a try. I had read review after review of how delicious your fish would taste using cedar planks, so I thought, what the heck - I'll give it whirl. I soaked them in water while I was at work and used my standard marinade on the salmon steaks. I didn't let my daughter know how I was preparing dinner so she was completely in the dark. Upon her first bite she asked what I had changed in the marinade because she absolutely loved the way it tasted. She said it was so much more flavorful but couldn't put her finger on what the change was. When I told her the only thing I did was grill them on the cedar planks she begged me never to cook them in the oven again. These planks are ridiculously easy to use and the flavor boost they gave the salmon was incredible. I can't wait to try trout and mahi mahi on these. Don't hesitate in purchasing - brings your food to a whole new level.

I am an avid grill chef and love to smoke different types of wood in various way. Cedar Plank Salmon is obviously a classic and I have always been amazed by the prices you pay at Cabelas's and the Home Depot for those. I was very pleased to see I could get 12 planks for about the same money I have been paying for 2 of them. I was wondering if there was a catch, actually there is none. These planks have a great format, that works well with the cuts I usually grill and they have been delivering perfectly well. I would buy again
