No more trusting the HVAC companies after they tried to gouge me on price for 5 dollar capacitors which as soon as he quoted me a price I knew it was way out of line but that is the business model for some HVAC companies too bad they do this to the elderly. I get charging higher prices to cover rolling a truck and your employee then making enough profit to continue on with the business but the pricing for HVAC repair in a lot of cases is just plain gouging and not ethnical. I was quoted 550 dollars for two capacitors with installation. I bought 2 caps for 22.00 dollars and replaced them in thirty minutes. Now that I have this meter no more gouging and you can keep them honest. They are replacing capacitors that are still good but try to make it sound like the system will fail. The part they aren't telling you is that the capacitor they are using is probably some where near the same value as the one their replacing it with.

Works great. So efficient when doing component testing, finding out if capacitors have strayed from their marked values is quite important when troubleshooting electronics. This capacitance tester works very quickly, and is a true time saver, well worth the money.

Use this meter every day at/for work! It has turned out to be a great investment. Other than the dang leads. They're too short!!

*Update*
After using this meter without a hitch the screen went out. Pulled it out of my tool bag while on a service call the screen simply wouldn't work. Upon trying to contact the seller since the unit is under manufacturer 1 year warranty I never received a response. Consequently, I contacted Amazon and they took care of me like usual! This unit is good when it was working and is probably great for the average DIY homeowners, but it simply couldn't handle the riggers of professional use sadly. Again big thanks to Amazon for handling business and taking care of customers.

I saw several reviews about not being able to zero the device. I just received mine yesterday and found the same issue. It will never zero completely. However, I did some tests using some caps between my Fluke and this (I trust the Fluke) and I was surprised that the counts were very close. The Fluke won't measure down as low as this one, so I couldn't compare those values. However, I tested a variable cap that I have that goes from 15pf to 160pf (I think it is). The meter responded as expected, although I had to hold the var cap with pliers, because if my hand was touching it, as expected, the capacitance went all over the place.

Then, I started to think too that humidity is going to affect this as well. We do keep our internal humidity about 55%.

All in all, while not the best device around, for the price, it seems to perform pretty well.

I will keep this unless in the next few days it fails or goes way out of tolerance.

Usually when electrolytic capacitors go bad in TVs the caps bulge. But not always. The M6013 Digital Auto Ranging meter is a MUST when you need to check capacitors when they DON'T bulge! There were no instructions on how to use the meter but no instructions were really needed. Super easy to use. This is a MUST for an electronics repair shop but the do-it-yourselfer will still come out way ahead by getting this meter rather then calling in a TV repairman. Glad I got it. Can't beat the price.
