We installed a TV, in our conference room, to replace the ceiling projector. We also wanted to replace the cables with a wireless solution. I chose the Nyrius unit because it's a simple plug and play solution that does not require any software drivers.
Setup is easy. The transmitter and receiver already come paired. There is a procedure to pair the units, if needed.
The receiving unit is small enough that I Velcro'ed it to the back of the TV. I installed the power cable and ran the included HDMI cable from the unit to the TV's HDMI1 input.
The transmitter plugs into the laptops HDMI port. There is an included 1' USB-A cord that plugs into an open USB port on the laptop to provide power to the receiver. My laptop only has 1 USB-A port. I found that the HDMI port and the only USB-A port were to close together. The kit does include a 90 degree HDMI adapter which angles the receiver and allows me to use the USB port that would normally be obstructed.
After plugging in the receiver the TV displayed the laptop screen image within 5-8 secs at 1080p.
There is no video or audio lag. We played videos and the video/audio were synced perfectly.
This unit is rated for max distance of 30' which is the max distance of our conference room. No issues, even at the farthest point.
I would recommend this unit.
Good purchase.

So I grabbed the little USB charger for my iPad and reverted to that for the receiver and it worked fine from that point on

I had some doubts whether this would work to send an HDMI signal from the back of my Sony receiver to my Epson 730HD projector on my patio. The distance is only about 20' but it's through a double pane glass door that's usually open when I'm on the patio, meaning that there are actually 4 panes in the way, and also the door frame itself. To complicate matters, I need to feed the transmitter through an Orei HD-102 2-port HDMI active splitter. I set everything up...and it all worked immediately! The splitter sits on top of my receiver and the ARIES transmitter is sticking-up vertically off the back of the splitter. I can see it from the patio if I move to the right position, but that's not where the ARIES receiver is located. So this unit and the splitter are both getting 5 stars. I did have a glitch worth mentioning. My Sony Receiver has no USB port whereas my projector does. So I tried powering this ARIES system "backwards" meaning that I used the USB cord on the receiver end and the 120 vac adapter on the transmitter end. It worked for about 5 minutes that way but then the receiver "died", as in, no power. After resetting everything including the projector it worked again for a while then quit again. I'm guessing that the ARIES receiver needs more power than the projector's USB port can provide and that port is shutting down. So I grabbed the little USB charger for my iPad and reverted to that for the receiver and it worked fine from that point on. I watched several hours of various video sources outdoors including Blu-ray. There were no issues with anything as far as the video goes, and apparently no problems with HDCP. I did note that the speaker in the projector was not working (and I know it does work with a connection from my computer) so I'm guessing that the DD5.1 SS audio is not present in the HDMI output from my Sony receiver. But that's a non-issue as I'm using speakers connected to the receiver (through an OSD 120-watt 2-channel amp) to provide the audio. It's all good...!
Works great -- be sure to use THEIR cable that they send with it!!!

Bought this to get rid of the laptop-in-front-of-the-TV setup we had for sending movies to the big screen. It works great, but it was a trial to get it to that point (though the fix was simple -- hopefully this review will help others avoid this particular issue.)
When I first plugged everything in, I was very frustrated -- as others mentioned, there's pretty much zero documentation with it, just a basic picto-gram showing which piece plugs in where and where the cables go. (Small dongle into the laptop/sender, square box receiver into the TV.) When this yielded no results (TV screen staying dark, no indication of connection made), we looked online for the manual. This yielded no helpful information.
After about 15 minutes of futzing around, plugging/unplugging and powering on-off and so on, I realized I had assumed that any HDMI cable would work. (Remember, we had a laptop setup we were already using via HDMI cable, so I'd just plugged the receiver into the TV using that same HDMI cable I already had.) As a last ditch option, I replaced that HDMI cable with the one that was shipped with the unit, thinking "Well, it shouldn't make any difference, but just in case..."
Well, apparently it made ALL the difference in the world. As soon as that cable was in place, the picture popped up, the sound was there, and everything was perfect. Didn't have to change anything on the computer, etc. Had we used their cable initially, setup would have been less than 60 seconds.
While I'm certain that the cable won't solve issues for everyone, it certainly solved it for me. As for the quality of picture and sound using the device, I have no complaints -- sounds just as great and picture quality is as good as when I was hard-connected to the laptop directly. The sending laptop is about 30 feet away across an open room (some furniture in the way, but no walls), and it has no trouble.

This is the fourth or fifth wireless products I purchased to mirror laptop to TV over the years and it is the only one that works flawlessly. I opened the box, took it out, plug it in to TV and laptop; and it works. I use a 2+ years old Win7 laptop and a Samsung 6000 series TV. My laptop's USB & HDMI ports are next to each other, so the included L shape HDMI adapter is a great tool to enable me to plug in both HDMI and USB concurrently (otherwise, there is no room to plug in both together, the transmitter needs USB port to power).
I was impressed by no driver installation needed and it simply works basically the same as a HDMI cable. My laptop is 1388 x 786 and the display fills the TV with no visible defects or loss of details. I don't play game, most of my display materialsg are PowerPoint, spreadsheet, document, web or short video clips, so can't comment on latency. My set up is pretty straight forward. I use this in my office, laptop on the desk and the TV is on a stand about 10 feet in front of the desk with no blockage in between. I sometime move the laptop to a conference table on the side for meeting and it works well also. I can either expand or mirror from laptop to TV just like a second monitor.
I tested pulling the adpter in and out, turn the TV on and off and other scenarios to make sure the devise works all time. In the few days I had it, I have not been able to to break it yet. It also works on Microsoft Surface (Surface has a mini HDMI & USB ports, I use a mini to regular HDMI cable to connect to the transmitter and USB port to power the transmitter).

Do Not Attempt This At Home OR If At First You Don't Succeed.....Try Again?

Either they left our the instructions or they must be kidding. I got a small folded over piece of paper which showed how to hook it up IF you wanted to send signal from a laptop. REALLY. How about those of us who want to send the signal from our cable boxes? Amazingly I did figure out how to do it but there was some trial and error and luck involved. Sure it is now working well and that is why it gets 4 stars but if I had to rate just the instructions I would give those 1/2 of 1 star. Looking at the device itself I have to think that most of what you are paying for is R&D (research and development). This thing could possible cost $39.95, or less, in the future but that being said I needed to have my TV in a place where getting the cable hookup was awkward at best. My wife HATES wires so running the cable wire across the living room floor was a big NO NO. So, in conclusion, it works well, costs too much and has lousy instructions provided. Maybe this will help someone. The larger device(receiver) plugs into an outlet and connects to the TV via the provided USB cord which plugs into the HDMI 1 connection on your TV. The small device(transmitter) plugs into your cable box and needs to get power via the provided cord which has a cord with USB connection on one end. The power cord provided for the smaller part, plugs into the small device and a USB port on the cable box. On my cable box the USB port was on the front of the cable box. Once I got the connections correct it worked immediately. How do you spell relief? Yes, it seems simple once you know how it is done so where were the instructions? Alas I think those instructions are still in the R&D lab.
