Alteril is an amazing product. It eases me into sleep when I need it. On nights when I have trouble getting to sleep, I take two of these and am able to relax and drift off. I can also get up if necessary and still go back to sleep. I take it when I travel, and it helps overcome the problems of jet lag and sleeping in unfamiliar surroundings. What I like best about it is that it does not have lingering side effects in the morning.
Works well but too expensive.

I can save $$ by buying L-Trytophan and Melatonin in the same sizes. Melatonin can be purchased, usually on sale, at your local drug store.

I was able to, over the course of months, when off of a daily ambien and lunesta cocktail and just take 2 of these. I keep the scripts on hand if I need to knock myself out but really prefer the more natural sleep Alteril gives me. Bonus- it is much cheaper on Amazon than in corner drug stores.

Will NOT be buying these again. Not only do they smell bad,they dont work. I took 2 first nite nothing. I had to add two benadryls , so i could sleep. Okay so im a give everyone/everything a second chance. So NEXT nite tried three nothing again. My over the counter benadryl work MUCH better. I wasted 19.00, live and learn.... ....

Tried this based on the recommendation of my doctor. I had the worst night I've had in ages. Causation or simple correlation? I don't know, but I am returning the product because it did not help me sleep better. Sleep is such an individual thing, so this product may work wonderfully for others. It just didn't do the job for me, and it is very expensive.
