Delicious rustic flavor
TriplePost•June 23, 2017
My first experience cooking stone ground grits ...Wow!...What a difference in flavor compared with regular grits. For extra "corny" flavor, lightly saute the grits in butter before adding water or stock...Your kitchen will smell amazing.
Far exceeds grocery store brands

Very good. It makes flavorful creamy grits. One of the better if not the best I have bought.
Five Stars

They cooked faster than I thought but they were excellent for spicy shrimp and grits.
So superior to those quick grits you can't believe it.

Hard to believe that I could be born in New Orleans and make it to 60 years old and have to travel to Charleston, SC to try stone ground grits for the first time but that's what happened. My beloved and I went there for a long weekend and I ate my way through the entire town, especially trying the shrimp and grits.
There's some sort of rule about being a a real, honest to goodness Cajun male down here it seems, that we all love to cook but it's pretty much true and I do for sure. So I set out to perfect my shrimp and grits and needed some stone ground grits but couldn't find them locally. Unbelievable! So I found them here on Amazon and bought these and they're great.
I cook them like I do BBQ; low and slow. :-) Seriously, don't be in a hurry. These are an excellent product with an earthy and rich flavor and a creamy, almost pillowy texture that has to be sampled to appreciate. I literally will never again eat the quick grits unless there is no other option. Which, since I put a couple of bags of these in my freezer, there is.
They're not cheap as one would expect something like grits to be, but they are money well-spent if you ask me. I bought the white ones as well as these and they're also quite good.

The best grits going.

I love yellow grits. I used to get mine from a semi-local mill, and they were soooooo much better than the white processed grits you buy in grocery stores. Sadly, that mill closed down, and I was forced to find another source for my treasured yellow grits. I'm happy to say these are as good as the others. The only suggestion I'd make is sell a 5 pound bag!
