Kiss of smoke
BBWI✓ Verified Purchase•January 18, 2018
I like this charcoal. It's easy to light, burns long, adds flavor. To be honest, I've never tried anything else. To be fair, they've never given me a reason to look elsewhere. I'm not a huge smoke flavor fan I just want a kiss of smoke. This charcoal delivers in my Weber. Maybe I'll buy a small bag of something else just so I can compare

I'm the envy of male guests when they see this charcoal. Many of them don't even know that you can get something other than briquets. Might just be my imagination but it seems to burn hotter than briquets. Works well with chimney lighting, and the sparks flying off the top for the first 10 minute or so is like a mini fireworks show - good time for a beer.
Very easy to light using BGE starter chip

Used this in a big green egg. Pieces are larger than BGE brand. Much less smoke. Very easy to light using BGE starter chip.i did notice I could not get egg up to 650 to sear a steak.Topped out at 550. Will try it again since it is so convenient to have this delivered.
Ok in a Weber

Definitely large pieces. For the price my husband said he would rather use Cowboy or Red Oak charcoal bought locally. We were using in a Weber so maybe using in something like a Big Green Egg would be better
SADLY, DOESN'T BURN HOT ENOUGH...

If you are accustomed to BGE lump coal, you'll find that this burns a lot cooler. Never could get it hot enough for a great steak. Probably fine for low temp smoking but I'm going back to BGE or similar products that provide high temp.
