Much better ride than chains and no damage on your concrete ...
Mike Drost•September 2, 2017
I put them on a Husqvarna LGT2554 Turf Saver tires and now it climbs my backyard at the steepest end, approx. 20-25 degree grade, with ease, they will not spin and I'm a bigger guy (250+ lbs.). Much better ride than chains and no damage on your concrete or pavement. A must have if your yard isn't flat.

I have not field tested this specific set, but I have used another set for 3 seasons with no problems what so ever. I ordered this set to fit on a lawn tractor because the other set I have are too big (they are made for a garden tractor). Additionally, I have only used them to get more traction during heavy snows and ice when using a snow blade and a snowblower on a garden tractor with wheel weights as well. I have a set of steel tire chains, but they were scrathing the rough surface concrete drive way too much so I chose to try these. Thus far, I have discontinued using my steel tire chains because these worked so well.
Exactly what I needed

I will admit, I was skeptical at first, but these rubber chains have performed well this winter. I have a relatively flat asphalt driveway. I didn't want to use regular chains that could scratch the driveway, so I thought I would try these. I use them for plowing snow with my Cub Cadet lawn tractor. Although this winter was fairly mild, I do live in a lake belt and we can get a lot of snow at once. I have plowed up to 6" at a time. The key is the water content of the snow. If the snow is real powdery, no issues at all. If the snow is a "wet" snow, then I have had some traction issues....but, always was able to get the plowing done. Some keys to remember are that in most cases angling the plow is easier to push alot of snow vs having the blade straight. Also, of course smaller swipes can help. As far as install, I aired down my tires then rolled the tractor onto the chains. The install was pretty straightforward according the instructions included.
In summary, though they weren't perfect for traction in some cases, they performed well enough to meet my needs.

Needed Some Work but Happy Now

It took a while before I had a chance to really test these out. The first time out, they kept falling off, the clasps on these are absolutely horrible. I read some other reviews and found ways to make them stay on better, so here's what I did:
- Quick Links-3/16" (Pkg of 12) - Used these instead of the clasps on the chains
- Deflated the tires and put the chains on
- Reinflated the tires
- Security Chain Company QG20032 Quik Grip Medium Tire Traction Chain Rubber Tightener - Set of 2 - Added these for extra security
We had around 14 inches of snow during a storm and these chains worked admirably. They slip periodically but if I stop and go slow they'll find their footing. This is my first experience using snow chains, so I don't have anything to compare these against, but they seem to work well enough for me now and I'm not as worried about them tearing up my driveway.

Great Product - Good trade off for chains

These are a great solution to preventing chains from scaring asphalt. They are good quality, and fit very well. The rubber is steel belted, so it has good strength. These ST90003 fit my 20x10-8 Turf Savers on my John Deere D155 very well. I have only used them a few times this winter. They work excellent in loose or packed snow, I have not yet tried them on sheet ice to see how well they grab. Based on how they look and feel, they will not grab in sheet ice as well as chains, but that is a trade off I expected since they don;t destroy asphalt.
