Allows guys to do their own fertility exams
Ted Huntington•April 5, 2018
I bought this microscope to do my own fertility examination by checking the motility, morphology, and count of my spermatozoa. I am definitely very impressed with how far microscopes have come for the price. I had no idea what my sperm might look like and to have an expert tell you costs a lot of money. There are home kits but what better test than to see with your own eyes? And then to capture a video of your sperm cells- you can not beat that. I am definitely able to see my own sperm cells, determine their motility, count and confirm that their morphology is ok. Definitely a good buy!
No luck trying to see details of white blood cells.
Harlan Kanoa Sheppard•February 2, 2017
I'm in a hematology class and purchased this to try out as a teaching aid. The short of it is that it wasn't useful for my purposes.
I had a set of prepared slides that I'd gone over before so that I knew their contents and legibility. Lots of interesting white blood cells like eosinophils and reactive lymphocytes to look at. The AmScope itself had some problem resolving these fine structures, and the digital camera that came with it made things considerably worse. I popped the camera into a Olympus CX21LED to eliminate for the optics of the AmScope, but I just couldn't get fine enough resolution.
The images that I got off this were insufficient to be useful for instruction at higher magnifications. It still might come in handy to the hobbyist, but I was disappointed at the great difficulty in trying to successfully make use of the high-dry and even oil immersion objectives.

An excellent student microscope! Great quality for the price.

I am amazed and delighted! Granted, I am not a professional, I bought this out of a memory of the fascination I had for the microscopes in high school. But I am very impressed with the quality of this microscope! It is substantial and heavy, with a rotating eyepiece turret with fully adjustable distance between the eyepieces, two sets of eyepieces, a very smoothly operating mechanical stage, smooth and precise dual-precision focusing, and an Abbe condenser with an optional blue lens that pivots out of the way. The LED light is on a dimmer, so you can control the brightness. I've having a ball culturing a hay infusion and seeing all the paramecia and other denizens of the unseen world. If I had to find a fault, it's that there isn't a case or holder for the eyepieces that are not in use, to keep them for getting dusty. The lenses are sharp, and good quality. The camera pickup is good, too, although the depth of field is limited (see the attached image). I'd have to say that this is an excellent student microscope.
Works well, came USED
Federico Lange•July 21, 2016
It functions, but the plate and the lens came with oil. Altough it was marked as a "NEW" item, it is "USED". Also, the Amscope letters at the bottom are a litlle faded away.
It's a good microscope? Yes, but expect to recieve a used or refurbished product.

I was hoping for a better than average scope that we could both enjoy
Njsmd5•January 11, 2016
This was a Christmas gift for my daughter who is a budding scientist. I was hoping for a better than average scope that we could both enjoy. I was happy to find a high quality ( better than her Middle School teachers ) scope. The software for the computer works well and captures still shots and short video. The image quality on the computer is only average but the direct vision is great. I am a Doctor used to looking through scopes and I would accept this scope in my clinic. If you buy.. Enjoy the hidden universe.
