Kind of difficult to give a review on something that you hope to never need. I gave this five stars because it easily mounted in the trunk of my classic car and being Halotron I have no concerns about using it in my engine compartment should the need arise without destroying the inside of the motor as it should not leave a powder that could be ingested by the engine. The price, while more expensive than a standard fire extinguisher, is worth it for the piece of mind. Hope to never need it but glad I purchased it.

Seems to be the genuine article. Be careful when you open it. You must open from the side listed on the outside of the box. There are two models of this extinguisher. This one (70251) and the other (70258) that is for wall mounting. Because of the mounting structure they are not interchangeable. The wall mount can not be vehicle mounted. The vehicle mount could be wall mounted if you wished. Haven't had a fire yet so don't know how it would perform and hope never to have to test that.

I purchased this locally because of the long lead time for shipping on Amazon (3-4 weeks). I was pratically the same price so if you are not in a rush Amazon is always better in general due to support.

I only had to use one once and it immediately suppressed and extinguished a combination of electrical and grease fire inside an engine bay. The free flowing gas penetrates every hard to reach area immediately. A foam or chemical would be blocked or dispersed by all the hoses and cables in the engine. Also no clean up after and the fire damage is readily visible and no obscured.More expensive, but the BEST fire extinguisher you can buy for any application. Even if it is 100+$ more that is far outweighed by both effectiveness and its non-damaging properties. If anyone has ever tried to clean dry chemical or organic film after discharge you know the disaster caused by preventing the disaster.

Halon and Halotron leave no residue, film, or dry chemical behind to damage anything of require clean up. These are considerably more expensive than tradition extinguishers, but the extra cost is far outweighed by the effectiveness and lack of damage/clean-up. You can't put a price on safety.
