Very nice vacuum sealer

Very nice vacuum sealer. Compact so it stores relatively easily. Manual vacuum capability allows shutting vacuum off before juices get sucked into seal area.
Feels cheaply made, doesn't seal well at all.

Received this as a wedding gift. I had no idea that it carried the price tag that it does. The construction isn't great, it feels cheap while holding it. It would seem that the span between locking mechanisms on either side of the unit is not as rigid as it could be, or the gasket that allows the unit to vacuum seal exerts too much upward force preventing the heating element from continuous contact with the bag to be sealed. In order to get a proper seal I have to press and hold down in the middle (logo) otherwise there are always gaps in the seal. I also have to seal at least two or three times. The Vacuum & Seal button only vacuums, luckily the Seal button can also be activated at the same time, so I just press both of them 2 or 3 times (while pressing down on the front) to get bags sealed.
We've had this for going on 6 years now and I've used it a limited number of times in that time frame, but are now using it much more with sous vide cooking. Seeing as how there are much better units for over half the cost we will be ditching this and opting for one of them.

Got it early this year and it works Great - I used it for over an hour straight to pack some steaks and other meat. If U follow the instructions.
Had to freeze fish and some other items a little bit that are a wet product.- so moisture would not be drawn into the seal (same for all sealers).
Have used other makers bags with it - max width 11" also. Bought one for daughter she loves it.

RETURNED BECAUSE THE SUCTION IS NOT ENOUGH -IF ANY- TO EMPTY THE FOOD BAGS.
Works perfectly. Compact while maintaining convenient ergonomics and good looks.

I've only had this a few days and I will update if something goes wrong. But I am so pleased with this small, compact, light unit that I wanted to tell others now because I expect it will last. One Caveat:if you have trouble, the website manual which you can download as a pdf is very clear with well drawn pictures and in my case, it allowed me to figure out that I was the one using the sealer incorrectly - the sealer itself was fine. YOU NEED TO BE SURE TO KEEP THE BAG FAR ENOUGH FORWARD SO THAT IT DOESN'T OBSTRUCT THE VACUUM HOLE IN ANY WAY. I would have known this but I never used a sealer before.

So far I've used it on cheese, cooked shrimp and cut raw fruit. It did a good job of vacuuming out the air and the actual sealing takes no time. Since it has a separate button to just seal, if you wanted to double seal, you could do so by using that button by itself. The unit must be stored flat and the top should not be hard-shut as that puts too much pressure on the sealers. However, it is designed to sit this way easily and takes very little room on a shelf. Because it is so light you could store it in a cabinet and take it out whenever you want to use it, or, leave it on the counter. It seems easy to clean with a damp cloth. The electric wire is about 4 ft long and there is a place to wind extra wire under the unit so if you always use it in the same place you never even have to wind and unwind the cord. I did find that it took some strength to close the top tightly when ready to seal. However, this will probably loosen up with time and I'd rather have it grab too tightly to start. The design is well thought out in every way for a small light competent sealer which also looks good.
My only concern is the longevity of the sealers and the lack of a "real" drip tray. But the company's website looks equipped and I suspect one could purchase new sealing strips and rubber gasket.
I purchased CASO bags, small and large and they seem plenty thick and well made. I wrote the company to make sure they were bpa free and they responded quickly with a picture of a label showing the bags to be bpa free. If you're sealing something just a bit too big for the small bags, I would suggest cutting down the large bags so the machine doesn't have to do so much vacuuming.
A few people spoke of this being noisy and I can't compare because it's the only one I've used. But I didn't find it really loud nor was it an unpleasant pitch - and you don't use it for long
If you want a slightly larger unit with vacuum hose and the ability to use containers you might be happier with the VC100.
