Spirit Halloween special, but they look good and are functional

For what it is, it is good. Just remember you are pretty much buying a, cheap one time use costume piece. BUT if you want this to last far longer and wear a lot. Go down to your local fabric store and pick up some thicker and wider spandex material. The spandex that come on this to go under your shoes, is super cheap thin, 3/16" to 1/4" strap, that will get cut up by your shoes and break in a day or so. I sewed on some high quality spandex straps, which took me about a hour to do for both spats. And I also sewed and took in the top of the spats that huge to your calf in, so that it sat my snugly onto my leg's and wouldn't fall down. Now I have some super cool looking spats that will last me years loner as they would if I didn't spend a few hours modifying them.

These spats are exactly what you see in the picture. SO happy I was able to get them overnight!! They're for my son who is attending a Steampunk themed Middle School Banquet. However, he's not your typical 13 y/o. He is 5'8" - 5'9" & 175 lbs. He plays soccer so he has large calves. So, if you have larger than average calves they'll be very tight or may not fit around them. I'd suggest investing in extra black velcro to expand them (if need be). We did NOT have to do this, but if his calves were just a tad bigger, we would've. Not a panic situation, though. Like I said, just get extra velcro, and it'll be just fine. The velcro edge faces the inside of the leg. So, it'll hardly be noticable.

My son loves the finishing touch of the spats. They complete the Steampunk look perfectly! He's decided that he's wearing the same costume for Halloween, too.

They looked nice, but the bottoms came off after first use of less than an hour.

The men's black Adult Steampunk Suede Spats were bought to go with my knight's costume. They worked well. The enclosure style is velcro, but it's run as one strip all the way down with no additional width for much size adjustment. They did fit a little big on me and I'm 5' 7'' 153lbs. However, even though they were a little loose, the material has enough rigidity that they did not sag or fall down. At the bottom of the spats is a bungee cord to wrap around the heel of your boot which helps it stay in place without spinning, this strap pulled out from its stitching on one of them the second time I was putting them on. I can easily fix this with a sewing kit though. All in all, this is a great set, especially for the money.
