Only works well with room temperature butter, which makes the purpose of this gadget totally useless!

I expected more of this product. If the butter is really cold you will have to use a lot of force to push down. You will get tired of pushing down. Also lots of butter get stuck on the walls and that's wasted butter. Don't waste your money on this.
Butter spreader

I ordered this after seeing an ad on FB and thinking this looks amazing. The concept is good, however, I did not have the best of luck with it. I took a stick of butter out of the refrigerator and placed it in the plastic tube. I tried to push it through the single slot by turning the top piece which has grooves on it much like a screw. This was impossible, so I placed the whole thing in the microwave for a few seconds which made it easier but 2 people used a whole stick of butter on 2 ears of corn, so this may have made it too soft. We ended up using a tub of butter from the fridge like always. I would suggest trying to use a stick of room temperature butter, to see if that improves the performance.
Hard to get butter out

I had the solid white butter butler for about 15 years and it broke. This one one would push cold butter out like a breeze. This new one I just got only works if it is left out of the fridge(which i don't like) and will only push out warm butter. I'm dissapointed with this design.
Have used mine for years

Have used mine for years, and given more to family members. Not perfect: a small amount of butter eventually squeezes up past the square pusher, but perhaps that's inevitable. And you have to be judicious about how much force to use to speed up the butter ribbon's emergence, as the device is sturdy but not unbreakable. I've replaced one in the past that broke, but the fact that I bought more since is a good testament to the product's utility.
Very Handy!

I use this to spread fake butter (margarine?) on toast, pancakes, and whatever else where a thin layer of butter-ish material is desired.
I tried real butter, but it's too thick and tough to squeeze out of that little slot.
It's a little messy around the innards, so if you don't have access to a dishwasher, you're looking at a long, heartbreaking ordeal when it's time to wash it. They don't show it in the picture, but some almost-butter tends to squish past the pusher thingy and slimes up the screw.
It has a cap on the end, but I don't use it, as it's just added mess with no conceivable benefit.
Highly Recommend!
