I tried another brand... which really did not work well at all. This unit works well and has been for months. Now, long term is yet to be determined... I do hope it lasts longer than what others have said. Only time will tell.

Definitely a "you get what you pay for" product. Better than those generic ones. The detection is always accurate and the amount is consistent. I use it with dish soap so that I don't have to even put down the sponge while washing dishes. Perfect so you don't waste large amounts of soap. In the bathroom, it's also easy to use with kids as they like activating it and it becomes a trained habit.

This purchase was a replacement and back up. The old one is 10 yrs old. It is an elegant design and very practical around the kitchen sink. The only issue is battery insertion. The image is ambiguous on the bottom but photo in the manual is perfect. Just turn off and empty to service. DO NOT get water or detergent in the bottom compartment while upside down. It has a motor driving a pump via an o-ring and will slip with fluids on it. It comes apart easily and can be cleaned - our pump slipped and after distilled water cleaning is now the backup for the new one. Highly recommend this durable, elegant, and functional dispenser.
