This is a great, compact Locator. My first one was 55 years ago and I just got their latest edition. Another one is Guide to the Stars by Ken Graun. Edmund's is about 8.5 inches in diameter whereas Ken's is about 16 inches in diameter. Each size can be convenient for different situations. Both show the Milky Way's position on a particular date and time. The Guide to the Stars shows positions of quite a large number of galaxies, nebula, and star clusters, whereas the Locator shows only one galaxy and a couple star clusters. In defense of the Locator, though, a smaller size only allows limited detail. Both show all of the constellations. The Locator is still a great device to start with.

A Nice Planishere with a short how to use manual. I bought it for nostalgic reasons, as I remember it as a kid; and it brought back memories of my early interest in astronomy, as well as , the old Edmund Scientific company.
