Cheap, but well made. Nice little snare sound.
R. Baldwin•July 8, 2017
It was cheap! But hey thats ok!! It gives a little snare sound, and didn't break the bank!! And thats what i needed!! I put a better head on it, top and bottom, and replaced the snares. The shell is made out of poplar, which is a soft wood, so don't tighten the head down like you would other snares, it may crack!! The size of the drum should give a poppy sound anyhow without cranking the head into oblivion!! The head kinda looses it's tuning as you play, but i think it might be a breaking in period for the wood, seeing how it is soft, but over time of hitting it with tension, the heads rim should sit nicer in the bevel edge of the drum due to compression and acclimation to it's new air conditioned studio. Also i used 220+ grit sand paper and carefully sanded the bevel edge as well when i placed the new heads on, i could feel some wood burs on the edge. This is common in cheap drums, since a lot of the details like that are taken out of manufacturing. All in all for the price, it's a great drum!!

It's great for experimentation with sound

It's a cheap little snare. It's great for experimentation with sound. I took the beater head off, lined the sides with news papers, then significantly tightened the beater and snare heads. Now it sounds like a firecracker.
