I should have looked at the reviews before I reordered this. I used it years ago without a problem but I too had the same issues with seeds that sprouted up in it. So even though it looks nice, I have to weed it which is very annoying.

This showed up when I searched Amazon for "gardening mulch". I read the product information and it did not indicate that it would be loaded with active straw seed (all straw gardening mulches are seed free as no gardener wants straw growing in their gardening bed). I spent a ton of time laying down a weed blocker in my vegetable garden and topped it with the straw mulch. After one rain spell my garden is loaded with straw grass growing all over the place. I am frustrated I wasted money on this product and feel it should say in the product information that is contains straw seeds. Don't buy this product for use in your yard unless you plan on growing a field of straw grass.

Very disappointing. Purchased this mulch to cover raised strawberry beds, but it's too light to stay in place. Much of it will get blown away in light wind. I could get past this by laying down more mulch as it gets blown away, but the seed contamination caused me to rate this as one-star. Soon after the mulch got wet, it began growing a bunch of grass. Now I have to pick out grass sprouts as I reapply mulch..not ideal. I'm sure there are better options out there.

As others have noted, this mulch is FULL of seed. I'd bought it in the past, I believe, with no problem, but this year it sprouted grassy stems everywhere. I only just opened this bag last week (I still had some open for earlier use even though I purchased this earlier in the spring to be ready) otherwise I would return it. I'm still planning to hunt down the company for a direct complaint as I paid for something that should suppress weeds and now they are growing everywhere BECAUSE of this product...and they aren't easy to pull up and it takes a lot of time to try to get them. It only gets 2 stars because I am pretty certain I used this brand before and it was OK, and because it does look decent and retain moisture. Beyond that I am very disappointed and will never buy again. Now what the heck do I do with the rest of the bag?!?

This stuff is so good. It goes on forever...covered my large flower bed, pots and misc and still had 1/4 left to use this year. I used to use straw but got a grass problem. This has no seeds and is so easy and clean. I put down cardboard in places I am not planting and cover with this. No weeds in those areas! Just bought another bag and am covering more areas this year...good bye weeds. I don't spray so this is a great alternative to using chemicals.
