So useful to have on hand
Todd V. Leone✓ Verified Purchase•April 30, 2018
I always have electrical contact cleaner on hand. It's so useful when some electronic device isn't working correctly because, say, invisible oxidation prevents the batteries from making electrical connection with the battery contacts inside. This solves the problem immediately. Also great, for example, when a charger isn't making contact with the device needing to be recharged, such as my cordless phone -- spraying this on resolves that issue at once. What makes the WD-40 superior to most other brands is that the "straw" for directing the spray to a small, specific area is built into the container with a hinge. If you leave it folded down, it sprays out of the nozzle in a wide spray, which I seldom if ever want. All I have to do to engage the "straw" is fold it up into position. Much better than a separate straw held onto the side of the can with a rubber band that needs to be inserted into the nozzle to use it. I note that while regular WD-40 lubricant can clean electrical contacts, it's a lubricant and leaves an oily residue which is not what you typically want when you need to clean electrical contacts. The WD-40 Electrical Contract Cleaner leaves no oily residue. Great product, one I use all the time. It keeps many an electronic device going and has many times restored one that has stopped working to full functionality. For example, I've had battery-operated quartz clocks that have stopped running and a new battery hasn't solved the problem, but once the battery contacts have been cleaned, the clock works again perfectly. How great is that? Tip: You can spray this product onto a cotton swab to clean a contact if you don't want the spray to get all over the inside of a device. One can lasts a long time, too.

I purchased this cleaner to clean the internal pots of a stereo component. Originally, the pots would work sporadically due to poor contact. A few sprays of this cleaner and several twists of the pots did the trick. The pots work like new.
It's safe and effective. I wasn't even worried that a little bit of the cleaner landed on top of a circuit board. Just a quick wipe of any stray cleaner and everything was fine.
Great stuff!

Easy to apply, close to other expemsive solutions from others

Very economical compared to other expensive solutions from other brands. Work and clean pods and electronic components well. It is a clear liquid which will be evaporated quickly, therefore, this is different from the normal WD-40.
Easy to apply by using the self-attached long nozzle. However, the nozzle itself is a little flimsy. So far, cleaned an old tube amplifier and several solid electronics. A few tips;
1. It is clear liquid form and evaporates quickly
2. Power off and unplug AC socket
3. If you are going to use a long time, make sure your room shall be ventilated well
4. Apply a little, and then apply more as it is needed
5. Put a white cloth underneath of the component, may have some drips during the cleaning

I dropped some orange juice on my newly built pc and it was all covered with juice. I had to take it apart and used this to clean the parts including motherboard. I used this in combination with isopropyl alcohol and worked well. Brought my PC back to life. It also dries fast and doesn't leave a smell.
This is great contact cleaner, it is easy to use and it worked well!

I am a handyman and my home stereo and intercom system stopped working. I decided to fix it my self and I believed the unit's power supply was bad. I ordered the components online and all ten of the items I needed was extremely low in cost. I literally fixed the unit for 100 tImes less than the factory repair shop wanted.
When I got done I noticed all of the remote speakers had a lot of static and one of the volume slide switches on the main unit was difficult to move. I was out of contact cleaner and I ordered this WD-40 product. I sprayed all of the push buttons on each of the speakers and then I pressed them 10 times. I then sprayed the volume slide control.
Immediately I noticed that none of the speakers had static anymore when you used them. The slide volume switch was quiet and it slid so quickly I had difficulty doing fine tuning as it over shot the point I wanted to set it at.
I loved the 2 way spray nozzle on the can and I used the pop up spray tube and shot around the switches from the front on the remote speakers. The spray does not harm plastic so it worked out well
This WD 40 product is very good and worked extremely well in my application. I rated it 5 stars.
