There's a few negative reviews out there for this but I have to say what I received was flawless. The hinges and latch are sturdy and reliable. The box itself has given me the impression of someone took their time assembling it. The dovetails are tight and show no gaps. Mine was slightly darker than what was pictured though I actually prefer that. The finish is a nice even satin and once again I was impressed at the amount of quality they had put into the box itself. The interior is not finished but is smooth and sanded and doesn't bother me at all. The foot rest was securely fixed to the top and acts as a handle.

The contents of the box are exactly as pictured. I much prefer brush type daubers instead of the sponges and will be replacing them. I also would've preferred the larger tins of polish but once again, I'll be adding those to my little box.

This is such a nice item I decided to place out in one of our spare bedrooms for decoration as it's far too pretty to be stuffed in the closet somewhere. I think you'll be very pleased should you purchase this!

Great box it's it was a gift really nice finish one thing I will say the hedges that hold case to open it is kinda cheap. A couple chips on the box here and there but overall it's nice would recommend it but the hedges that hold the box need to be upgraded

My husband told me that his dad always had a shoe shine kit and he's always wanted one. He loves this and uses this everyday. I'm so happy with this purchase. Quality wood, wonderfully crafted and not cheaply made!

Very nice quality box. The brushes are a good size and quality. Nice little kit to have for anyone who likes to keep their shoes looking good. Everything you need is in the box. It was great for the price. One of the shoe polish cans arrived damaged,but was immediately replaced as soon as I contacted them. I was very impressed with their excellent customer service!

As I see it, the negative reviews were in 2012 or in that time range. Maybe, in the early going they had problems but it seems they have corrected them. I have NO complaints about my shine kit. Box is very pretty, it is sturdy and big enough to hold all that comes with it plus what you want to add. I like mine a lot and I would recommend this product to a my friends!
