The “tech vault” is tight but removable.
Austin Texas✓ Verified PurchaseSeptember 7, 2023
So the chief complaint I've read about this backpack is the laptop section (called "tech vault") being way too tight. It is. But it's also removable.

Open the tech vault and run your fingers inside and all the way down along the right/left corner bottom corners. Your fingers should be able feel the edges of inside cloth liner. Gently pull the liner from the bottom up until the liner is inside out above the bag. Run your fingers back down inside the top of the tech vault and your should feel a smooth hard material. Bend the top cloth section of the tech vault back so that this hard material flips out of the section and remove it. Then push the liner back down into the bag. This should give you much more flexibility in this section.

The other complaint I've seen is that there is no luggage handle sleeve on the black pindot bag. There absolutely is. It's just so tight that it looks flush with the back of the bag.
Best backpack

Order several backpacks and ended up keeping this one because it gave the best protection for my laptop
The best possible solution for the Road Warrior, whether a daily commuter bag or for air travel.

I spent an extended period of time looking at backpacks to carry my Lenovo W541 I use for work. I finally opted for the OGIO Renegade because of the numerous reviews and build quality that OGIO has put into their products. I was originally using a Logitech KINETIK 15.4 Backpack that began to fall apart at the seams, literally; the main zipper compartment began fraying at the zipper in the corners. This was when I looked hard at OGIO but was reluctant because of the cost of their products, however after watching numerous videos and watching numerous road warriors stick copious amounts of gear in the bag effortlessly, I was pretty convinced and took the plunge.

When I received the bag I was very satisfied with my purchase because of the build quality I had mentioned earlier; the entire construction of the bag was better than most of the other backpacs I've used over my lifetime, including Jansport's and Eastpak's. The layout is very dynamic, having specific pockets that were designed for things like a water bottle, your AC adapter, a dedicated laptop pocket that did not require opening up the main pockets, a isolated and protected eyeglass pocket, a table pocket, etc. The design of the bag is such that each pocket allows you to put lots of additional gear in them without occupying too much space in other pockets, especially the main front pocket which is made for your personal items, small accessories like wireless mouse, wallet and keys; I keep a large pair of over-ear Denon headphones (Urban Raver) in the very front pocket and still have lot's of space in the secondary pocket where the tablet pouch is. I also keep an 18650 battery charge and small screwdriver toolkit as well as an Amazon Basic's Universal Travel Case for Small Acessories and Electronics which holds all my vaping gear and still have lots of additional room. The suspension system that is used for the laptop pocket is one of the more intelligent designs I've seen for laptop bags, allowing the carrier to have a dedicated pocket that doesn't intrude to the other storage areas and protects the laptop from drops. The bag was obviously designed with the 'Road Warrior' type traveler, having lots of options for storage that the carrier can decide how to use. The other great feature of this bag is the stitching and riveting; the bag has double stitches in high tension areas as well as rivets for the main bag handle at the top, something that is lacking in many other bags of similar design.

My only negative about this bag would come down to the straps; I'm a short, stocky guy who must pull the straps to their longest position to use this bag effectively, however the quality of the straps is of high grade materials and I have no fear that they are going to give out at any time. There is also some good design implementations on the straps themselves having a dedicated pocket on the straps for ear buds and an mp3 player (and the small gap that allows the wires to be threaded through) as well as a small logo strap above the earbud pocket that a cellphone holster can be attached to. All the materials for the straps are solid and distribute the load of the bag evenly without tugging on stitched points causing unnecessary wear and tear.

TL;DR summary; this is the best road warrior bag you can currently buy without spending hundreds more on an all-leather bag or major luggage brand (think Tumi, Ricardo or high-end Samsonite). Tons of pockets to carry everything imaginable and lots of built in features to make traveling, whether local commuting or air travel, very simple and convenient. Would recommend to anyone that uses a backpack daily, especially in IT fields.
The best business / gadget / travel bag I have owned.

Around some years ago I had the need to replace my laptop/travel backpack (Samsonite) which actually was quite useful since it was big enough to hold a lot of stuff and had a lot of compartments... however the straps were somehow losing their cushioning so it really was a pain on my shoulders and back.
Then in 2013 CES Exhibition at Las Vegas, I ran into this bag at the OGIO stand, and the sales guy told me that the bag was recently released and allowed me to have a try and check the bag around. My first impressions were that it was very well built and with a lot of pockets and features. So after some months of research reviews and comparing with other bags in youtube reviews I decided to purchase it through Amazon.

Now I have been almost 3 years with this bag and I am very pleased. I have traveled with it at least 20 times for business mostly. Even when I moved to Mexico for 1 and a half, I was able to fit in almost of all the electronics and gadgets that I needed for my job post there, laptop, hard drives, two iPods, Bose Noise Cancelling QC15 earphones, Bluetooth speaker (UE Boom), notebooks and files, assortment of pens and markers, two sunglasses and reading glasses, water bottle, point and shoot Canon camera (S95), chargers and cables for mobile phones in a dedicated pouch, etc.

All in all I can tell you from experience these are the key features of this bag:
- 1 dedicated compartment that fits a 15" inch laptop at the back of the bag, and has a suspension at the bottom that allows to cushion the laptop in case you drop it to hard to floor. Also this compartment is placed for easy access when passing through those annoying X-Rays at the airport where in most cases they require to take out you laptop.
- It has 3 more separated compartments, being the first one the biggest one that holds larger items like headphones, jacket, books, etc. Then immediately you'll find another compartment which has a built-in "jacket' or sleeve to hold you tablet as big as 10", also you can place other thin items here like folders, medium sized notebooks or magazines, point and shoot camera, etc. Then the front compartment which is the smallest one is quite useful since it has also some mesh zippered pockets to fill in with the items such as business cards, cables, flash drives, keys, cables chargers etc.
- Then in the outside at the top there is two pockets, one that is hardened internally so it can hold your glasses or maybe your precious smartphone without the risk of being crushed by weight may be put atop the bag. Just beneath this hardened pocket there is another small pocket also with some mesh divisions inside for you to place more items that you might want to have at hands reach, like business cards, candy bar, lip balm, flash drives, IDs, keys, etc.
- Now, still the bag has more places to store your gear... it has 4 more pockets placed at the sides (2 in each side) for storing more stuff like gadgets that you need to grab on the fly... like a point and shoot camera, a battery power bank, iPod, mobile phone, GPS, you name it. In fact one of those pockets can open up to hold also a water bottle.
- The zipper are very heavy duty, and the stitching of the bag is the best quality.
- The straps are well designed and have an adjustable little belt that connects them in front of your chest for better stabilization of the bag once is worn. The only real complain or observation that I have about the bag, is that the cushioning of the shoulder straps could use some improvement and the straps them selves could be a little wider to grab more space in your body and stabilize the bag more especially when is really really loaded because believe me this bag CAN HOLD STUFF.
Great back oack

Ogio back packs are amazing. I've used them for over 15 years. This was one for my son. I've had 2 in the 15 years I've been using them. They are very durable. Would recommend to anyone
