Cheese melts great! Bought it to make cheese dip with. I meant to order the white cheese but the yellow seems to work well too, just a slightly stronger flavor.

I really like this cheese my sister and I used to go half on 6 pounds but it costs to much now, oh well hopefully one day the price will return to normal.

I bought this for sentimental reasons, to see if other reviews of it were true. This cheese is closer, in flavor and texture, to Kraft Deli Deluxe or Land O Lakes Sharp American Cheese than it is to the commodity cheese that the government used to distribute to low income households. (It was dryer and a little less salty.) That's not necessarily a minus though. Both of those products are excellent and 30 lb.s of either would cost quite a bit more than this did. This is a two year supply for my household. I probably won't order it again, but I'm glad that I did it this time.

The real restaurant cheese, though a lot of it! Even with 2nd day air shipping, it's still 35% cheaper per pound than buying retail Land O Lakes American at the local big-national-discount-store deli counter. I like the flavor better than anything except the late Kraft Deluxe American, no longer produced, which had the richest flavor. Better than Land O Lakes retail American. All the retail American cheeses seem to have a chemical taste overtone; this does not. Made for melting, it makes great queso.

Loaves are labeled for a 270 day shelf life under refrigeration. That helps you get through your 30 pounds of cheese.

Communication and shipping from Foodservice Direct was top notch. Arrived in a strong box, lined with over an inch of styrofoam, packed with four packages of blue ice. Cheese was refrigerator-cold.
