Nice price, but extremely short expiration date
Wood B. Hermit✓ Verified Purchase•February 28, 2018
While the price may be nice on the 16-ounce container of this Parmesan cheese, especially when purchased as a recurring Subscribe & Save item here on Amazon.com, the cheese apparently arrives with an extremely short remaining "Best By:" date. I just received my first shipment of this product the other day and the recommended date by which it was supposed to be totally consumed was just 26 days away (03/26/2018)!
This is a bit much to ask of me since I primarily use grated Parmesan cheese when sporadically eating spaghetti throughout the year. Amazon was kind enough to send me a replacement at no charge, but the new "Best By:" date of 04/25/208 was only a slight improvement.
According to information on the web, opened containers of grated Parmesan cheese apparently can be kept safely in the refrigerator and/or freezer (Ziploc bag) for 9-12 months and this is what I will be doing with the second shipment of cheese that I received after its date of optimal use has been reached at the end of April 2018.
The first shipment that I received will be going to charity where it will certainly be consumed by the end of March 2018. I have promptly canceled this Subscribe & Save subscription and will in the future be purchasing grated Parmesan cheese elsewhere, namely locally where I can see the expiration date beforehand.

A delightful, tasty parmesan - and great if you're watching sodium intake

I eat a lot of Italian food so of course there's Parmesan involved. I've been told lately to reduce my sodium intake and parm often has a surprisingly high per serving sodium count. Milano's manages to deliver both a very good parm taste and texture and it's also markedly lower in sodium than most. That's not immediately obvious since many/most parm products use a 2 teaspoon serving qty. and quote 100-120mg sodium while Milano's uses a tablespoon svg. size and quotes 90mg/serving. Since a tablespoon measure is equal to three teaspoons, a product quoting 2 tsp serving size and 100 mg equals 50 mg per tsp while Milano's using 90 per tablespoon = 30 mg per tsp. That's effectively 40% less sodium since a typical parm @ 50 mg would be 150 mg per tablespoon vs 90 for Milano's. Since virtually no one willingly limits their use of parmesan to 2 teaspoons when they're looking at a delicious meal of spaghetti and meatballs or a fine lasagna, the sodium can add up. For me, Milano's has been a delightful discovery.
Doesn't melt

Nowhere NEAR the cheese that the Andrew and Everett cheese that you used to have at an affordable price on Prime. I will drop this from my subscribe and save. The powdery Kraft off the shelf is no different than this for much less price . It doesn't even melt. I gave it 3 stars because the flavor is actually pretty good but the fact that the texture remains the same after heating is a no go for me.
When I first ordered it the cheese was wonderful! Lately the quality has been unpredictable

I receive this cheese through the subscribe and save program. When I first ordered it the cheese was wonderful! Lately the quality has been unpredictable. One jar of cheese had mold in it. I thought maybe I had opened it and put it back on the shelf by mistake, but after reading some of the reviews, I think it molded on its own. The last two bottles I received contained cheese that was an orange color. The date on the bottle was still good so I thought it was just a natural color variation. I opened one of the bottles last week and tonight when I used it the cheese was hard and very orange. I am disappointed because I really enjoyed this cheese but after having so many bottles go bad I don't plan on buying it anymore.
Great Flavor, Great Value

I love the dry aged flavor and you get 2 huge sprinkle-or-pour bottles delivered thru Prime like zip! I make my own fresh pasta (an egg, a little: oil olive, salt, flour, semolina, water) with or without a machine before the water boils so I make noodles or tortellini a lot and this is my fave Parmesan (next to shaved from the wedge).
