Typewriter would not work intially

This typewriter was a replacement typewriter for my 92 year old mother in law. She had a Brother that she used for years that finally stopped working. This typewriter initially did not work. As soon as it was taken out of the box she started typing and it typed two or three lines then started typing character that had no ink on them . I spoke with an extremely helpful man in support and he told me the problem were that the ribbons were shipped with tabs that prevented ribbons from unspooling during shipping. The problem was that NOTHING in the instruction manual told you this. After removing the tabs it is working fine.

DO NOT plug it in until you look at the instructions, open it up, and remove the internal styrofoam shipping blocks on the carriage assembly.
