Expiration date is meaningless

I bought this pen for a few departments in my company. It works great on aluminum. I removed one star because of the expiration date that comes with this product. I have one pen that is a year past the expiration date, and it works just fine.

works great on sand blasted metals (after heat treating) not so much on stainless as expected. it takes a few seconds for the the metal to (oxide?). Kind of expensive for a short shelf life (about a year)

We tried it instead of etching on 1026 DOM steel. It did not mark permanently, was able to be rubbed off.
