If you already have mastered the 3x3 this is a great challenge. The edges still have 3 pieces, so many of the moves you developed in solving a 3x3 can be used to solve most of the puzzle. The first time I did it, I solved everything except the bottom layer without much trouble. One thing to note, the middle piece of the edges (the star points) can not spin independently of the corners. So if you use moves that spin the middle piece on a 3x3 you will need to come up with a creative alternative. There are plenty of websites that give tutorials and solutions to the puzzle if you get stuck.
