Worked great on my Honda Civic

I have a 2013 Honda Civic, with a sunroof, and this worked great. I just put the front bar in front of the sunroof, easy-peasy. Easy and quick to put in place, and remove. Secured nice and tightly, and didn't budge a bit, an hour each way, at interstate speeds.

I like the pads and rail system. However the straps are junk. I had a difficult time getting the ends through the buckle due to their frayed ends. Also straps going over kayak barely reached even though kayak is not exceptionally wide. I plan on replacing straps prior to any trip. I only used them to pick up my kayak from the store and I was highly concerned that the straps would not hold for the 3 miles.
Not a permanent solution... but works well for what it is.

Works really well as a temporary rack to transport my sit on top kayak. The only down side is the aluminum bars are just a little too narrow... when I strap my kayak to the rack, the kayak is too wide and forces the strap to go around the other strap instead of the bars... causing the mounting strap to rub at the edge of the bar... which could cause it to fray or cut. I just added some foam between the mounting strap and the bar in which it is placed in to help prevent the potential rubbing. I also add an extra strap all the way around the kayak and through my car just to be on the safe side.
Have not ventured more then 30 mins away yet, and kept to the back roads... but honestly, I think it would be fine on the interstate as long as you properly strap everything down. You can start to hear some wind noise above 45 mph... but nothing the radio cant drown out.
Will prob upgrade to a better rack later... but for now this does the trick..... and even when I upgrade, I'll keep this as a back up or to let friends borrow if needed.

This is a fantastic product, perfectly priced and very easy to use. My kayak is 28.5" wide and the rack is just wide enough to accommodate it. Be aware that unlilke J-hooks, you can only fit 1 kayak on the top of your car with this system.

Overall, I'm incredibly satisfied with this purchase. This temporary, easy to install solution worked great for both quick trips to local lakes and multi-state journeys.
The bars and foam pads held up well and kept the kayak secure. I used it dozens of times with no permanent damage to the roof.
The straps are garbage. They held the boat just fine, but the ends frayed badly after a couple of uses and it was difficult to hook the fore and aft straps since the hooks did not secure easily to the strap. Two sets of Sherpak Quick Loops and some heftier straps from L.L. Bean solved all the issues. Much cheaper than the $600 it would have cost to put an actual rack on the car.
