I have to admit I am impressed.

So let me just hop right to the point.

We live in Daytona Beach. I keep my bike stored INSIDE my house.

The bike never would shift into 3rd gear right out of the box. No big deal thata a low gear anyways.

I lubed everything wirh dry lube with teflon to keep everyrhing safe and kicking.

We rode it ti the beach TWICE and it has sat doe about 3 months.

I went to ride it yesterday and couldn't shift a single gear. Both sifters were rock solid. After spensing a solid day adjusting, tuning, lubing, I disscovered the shifter cable housing is made of AWG metal inside of a plastic outter shell. These have FUSED together and I have to completely replace the cable, housing, retune everything. It's a straight nightmare.

Now I know what you're thinking...this person doesn't take care of their stuff and shouldn't be riding it on the beach and thats what you get.
Okay...well how do you explain our two walmart bikes that were over 10 years old that LIVED outside of a hotel through rain, ans the himidity. Were rusted out. Still shift. Seriously.

My bike is useless. And I am out 300 bucks.

If you purchase this, I recommend just straight replacimg the shifting cables right out of the box with a high quality.

This is my 2nd tandem too and my first one NEVER had these issues.
Hole in tire but after that, a lot of fun

Sturdy bike and fun to ride. First time I tried to blow up the front tire out of the box, it wouldn't take air. Turns out it had a hole in the inner-tube! Had to go to the store and buy a new inner tube for the front tire before I could ride it so that was a huge bummer but it was fixed. Then, the first ride took some time to tighten up the loose parts that I thought were tight to make it more secure and less wobbly. Overall, it has been a lot of fun to ride and sturdy so far. Hopefully it will maintain its reliability!
A few negatives, a few positives

First, the negatives - Be aware that this feels like, weighs, and handles like, a truck. A 16 wheeler, not a pickup. It is heavy!!! And tight turns just ain't happening. If you live somewhere extremely hilly, this will be a brutal workout. Quality of parts is mostly below average. Assembly is long and difficult. I would strongly recommend lubricating the entire chain before your first ride. What little lubrication that it comes with the chain is grossly insufficient. The chain is long and travels a long way. It has demands well above that of a normal bicycle's chain. If you can find a kickstand that works to hold this beast up, please let me know. All that I have tried, failed. The seats are very uncomfortable for any ride lasting over 15 minutes. Car drivers are not used to seeing tandem bikes, so they are unaware that you need a larger turning radius, and more time to clear an area, than a "normal" bicycle. Make sure you and your passenger are HIGHLY visible if you will be out around sunset! I recommend a flashing light in front and back, additional reflectors or lights on the spokes of both wheels, AND reflective clothing!! Trust me, there are car drivers who just do not understand that this bike handles much differently than a single person bicycle. If you do not make yourself and this bike very visible, and it starts to get dark, you are making a big mistake. This is NOT a bike for nighttime riding!
The good - if you are in an area where there are not a lot of hills and set the bike up in a way that you'll be reasonably comfortable, you can have a very nice time. I ride with my daughters and we have good conversations, that in all honesty, probably would not happen in the house (too many distractions) and are very difficult to have when you are riding separate bicycles because so often you have ride inline versus side by side because of traffic or narrow paths. You certainly attract attention because there just aren't many of these around. Kids get a big kick out of it. If you're in front, you'll do most of the work, so if you go any kind of decent distance, you will get a workout for sure! If I have my youngest in the back, she tries her best to peddle, but she really can't make much of a difference. So, a 5 mile ride with her has me sweating and my legs burning more than 15 miles on my ten speed. I absolutely lose weight, each summer, riding this. No diet needed. There's no water bottle included, so make sure you get one. You will need it, if you're upfront.
A Good Tandem for Fun, at a Good Price

Pros: The bike is really cheap and functional. You'd need to pay quite a bit more than $300 to get a decent tandem bike. The bike has a sturdy frame and mechanical parts that look like they will last a long time. On the road, the bike is strong and will traverse gravel tracks well, especially with the 2" tires. This is a serious consideration for tandem bikes as the weight of 2 persons and a heavier bike rests on 2 wheels, so if the tires are too thin, they can burst more readily over sharp rocks. Being able to ride on the gravel trails is a big plus for us.
Like all tandems, you get to enjoy the power of 2 people cycling on a bike that's about 1.5 times the weight of a regular bike with (importantly) the wind resistance of 1. It's this last factor that allows tandem bikes to go really fast, especially downhill.

Cons: You get what you pay for - the bike is quite heavy, over 24kg all in. The sturdy steel frame is not light, but the wheels are alloy, so it could have been worse. Quality-wise, it's not a Cannondale. The gears are not the smoothest and in spite of all my mechanical know-how, I still cannot get the front derailleur to work properly, being able to operate only the two larger gears. But with 2 people on it, it's quite alright without the smallest one. Overall, if you could imagine the quality of a cheap bike at Walmart, that's what it is. As for quality control, one of the reflectors was broken in shipping, and a crucial screw to fasten the rear brake lever was missing. Thankfully, I was able to scrounge a screw off an old bike which worked perfectly.

It's a good buy for the amount you pay. I'd recommend this to anyone who just wants some fun on a tandem with a loved one.
A lot of bike for the $

Ok.., so my wife & I, with our friends & family take frequent bike rides. My wife tends to lag behind a bit so I thought this bike might be fun & also solve the problem. I couldn't be happier with this bike at this pricepoint!
I'm a very mechanically inclined guy & have had many bikes so I understand build quality & component quality. First thing you need to know is this bike has a steel frame ( if kent used any other material the bike would double in price) .. steel is heavy & the frame is huge! Thats why they gave you 20+ gears. My wife & I who are fairly healthy 46 year olds can keep it moving comfortably , just stay in the proper gear. The single wall alloy wheels are prob the weak point on this bike, have had zero issues as yet but i expect to have to put better ones on it at some point, its just alot of bike & passenger weight for these rims, the average riders will probably get a year or two of service from them id guess..In my opinion the overall quality of the bike is such that I will not take issue with putting better rims on it eventually. The component quality on this bike is excellent for the price. ( shifters, brakes, derailers, cranks etc) . It's all simple tried and true technology, nothing fancy but well built with quality materials .
Out of the box I did have to adjust the brakes & derailers & re- seat the back tire in addition to the normal assembly. I also ordered big cushy replacement seats after a couple long , butt numbing rides. ($45)
To sum it up; ..good bike! great value at this price.... If you are fairly mechanically inclined & want a sturdy tandem cruiser this is a win.
