I waited until I could give these a good workout before I reviewed them. I ordered two of them so I could grab two pieces of firewood at once and stack them. These are designed really well and with some practice with getting them to release the piece of wood they will make your work easier. You don't have to bend all the way down to the ground and use two hands to pick up a large piece of wood. I can pick up two pieces that have to be split at once and put them on the stack or splitting table.
Great value, but stinky handles

These tongs are great and can pick up a wide range of log diameters--helps save the back and make quick work of moving blocked logs (2 at a time instead of 1, if you have 2 tongs). You may need to oil or adjust the pins for maximum speed convenience because they may arrive with a slight tendency to catch. However, the worst feature is the plastic handle that arrives with a putrid burnt-plastic smell that is difficult to banish and will leech on to anything that touches it; Still haven't figured out how to get rid of it--hopefully baking in the sun will be enough.
Indispensable for Moving Large Numbers of Railroad Ties Around
H. Vaughan•May 19, 2017
More than worth it! We are having a custom house built on a large wooded lot and I'm having to use railroad ties to edge parts of a long driveway (1/2 mile total roadway), and for making retaining walls. This makes moving heavy railroad ties easy enough I no longer end up spending a few days with back pain after making a retaining wall or adding more roadway with edging on it.
one hand tying isn't easy. Neither is typing with one hand

Three weeks back a log came flying out of my log splitter, mashing the palm of my left hand against the post. The third and fourth metacarpals, those long bones in the palm of your hand that connect those wrist bones to you finger bones, were broken in half. Six weeks in a cast.
It is winter, we heat with wood. Picking up firewood with one hand was wearing it out, Then I bought this and it helps a lot! I also bought velcro shoes.....one hand tying isn't easy. Neither is typing with one hand, so I'll stpo here.

Timber Tuff Tongs - great for moving large timbers by hand
Chris Ray•April 8, 2016
I bought these originally for moving firewood. Well, I had a building project that came up before then. We needed to move some 20 foot long treated 6x6 timbers-- (4) of them. They are really heavy. We wrestled the first one by hand. It was a chore. Then after that, I thot there had to be a better way. I remembered I had (2) of these brand new in the box for wood cutting this fall. These WILL scratch up your wood a little bit, but it is well worth it! Use at your own risk. Once you get a "bite" into the timber and hold tite, these tongs are amazing how well they work. It took an absolutely miserable job of setting large timbers to slightly less than miserable. Still hard work. Heavy duty construction. I think I paid about $20 each for these. Worth every penny on this last job. I haven't used them in the woods yet, but I think they will be fantastic. If I have any negative experience, I will report back here.
