Flavor was really good. Waaaay salty with the recommended 2 gallons of H20 though. I ended up using 3 gallons and it turned out good. It really does taste pretty much the same as the veg pho broth I get at the local restaurant. It makes a lot of soup broth so unless you're planning on feeding 10 people, you're going to end up freezing most of it for later. Other than the massive quantity it makes and way over salty (which can be fixed with xtra H20), I thought it was really tasty! I'll probably buy it again.

You won't mistake this for good restaurant Pho, but for at home use it works well enough. I tried the ox tail and beef simmering along with roasted spices and it just wasn't worth all the effort. I use it with some brown rice vermicelli noodles and toss in some chopped cruciferous greens from TraderJoes. A little fish sauce improves it as well. And of course don't forget the Siracha and Hoisan sauces. One of the good aspects of restaurant Pho is the plate of fresh vegetables like Thai basil, sprouts, jalapeno peppers that come with the soup. So the more you can duplicate that at home the better. Or go out and find a place that makes good pho.

This pho soup base has a delightful blend of flavors that made the best pho that I have tasted! We added ginger and onion according package directions. Then we sliced in celery, yellow and zucchini squash, cabbage, carrots and celery... It was very tasty! This will be on the menu often at our house!

You do have to make the whole batch at one time because of the spice packets but honestly when I make it, everyone in the house knows that we're eating pho for the next few days.
