It took 4 of these to subdue the overtones from my Pearl Session snare. That said, I like that they attach securely and don't interfere with the playing surface. I'd prefer an internal, dial-controlled muffler like in the "old days" as I don't like having "stuff" on the playing head but that's just my OCD coming out. Haven't tried moon gels so I cannot compare but am generally pleased with these.
Great invention!

This (regular) size worked great on my snare batter side. So much better than the old screw down felt muffler I have been using for years. It gives me more brush playing surface area and can be left on the drum to pack in case. Well worth the $.

Love these for minimal muffling on the batter side of toms and snare. They also work well with zero ringsif you need a dead seventies type of sound to keep the zero rings on the drums and prevent them from sounding like a gate. I've had mine for a couple of years and they haven't worn out, (though I don't leave them on the drums). I have a lot of different types of drums and they ft on all of them.
Work Great

These work well to take out the sustain of the hit. They will not necessarily take out overtones. A ring is better for that. They will dampen the head so you get a tighter sound without a bunch of ooohhhmmm. You can put enough on there to make them completely dead. This is good for studio work where you want to add your own reverb after the fact or if you are playing in a room that is very reverbish on its own. I like the tight sound anyway where my drums don't bleed together much. They stay out of the way, and unlike moongels, they dont fall off or get dirty.
Definitely reduce the ring or after-tones

These clips definitely reduce the ring or after-tones. They are well made with a smooth plastic finish, no sharp edges, and come with a square felt pad that you can apply to the flat area which makes contact with the drum head. I wish they were a little less flexible so I could experiment with placing additional felt pads between the clip and drum head to further reduce ring. Nonetheless, they are well worth the money
