Quality Control... AVOID AT ALL COSTS
David S•August 7, 2015
Update to my earlier review: I received a replacement from Amazon a few days after reporting the problem with the slider rail. To my frustration, the replacement that I received was a unit that someone else had obviously returned, and the slider cart on it was damaged to the point of being completely unusable. I've dropped the review to one star as they were 0 for 2 in getting me a working slider.
Cheers to those users who were lucky enough to receive a working unit, but the complete lack of quality control or consistency on these should make anyone wary of purchasing one.

Original review:
I really want to like this slider. The track unit itself is solid, the legs are easily adjustable, and the slider carriage is smooth... at least mine was until it got a bit more than halfway down the track, then it stuck. As another reviewer experienced, it essentially turned my unit into a 20" slider, as I had to stop when it hit the snag spot. I'm returning mine for a replacement. Hopefully the new unit will operate properly.

I saw a lot of good reviews and decided to bite on this slider. Right out of the box it had a "dead spot" in it. The slider would get around 2/3 of the way down the track then hit a snag. This isn't an issue of user error or having bad sliding technique. This issue was something during the manufacturing process. I tried looking on the track, taking the cart off the track, checking the bearings, and I just couldn't pinpoint why this slider had a dead spot or how I could fix it.
The slider itself felt solid enough. One thing to note about it's construction is that the metal screws for the legs are definitely a soft metal. Be careful and mindful while tightening them as it's the kind of metal that will quickly wear out and lose it's grip.
Overall I saw other reviews and bought it, only to run into some issues. You may get lucky, I personally might just save a bit more and get the konova k2 or something.
Edit: dropped to one star. The tripod adapter that comes on this thing got stuck then BROKE in half inside the thread of my manfroto head. Avoid this junk slider

Best bang for your buck. Hands down.

A great slider for the price. If you're like me, you probably looked all over for a slider and have seen that they cost a lot.
I just needed a dedicated slider to provide smooth tracking shots for things like real estate videos, and really just any shots that could provide a professional feel to them. This slider has done that.
It's friction stopper isn't great, it's a twist knob with padding on it that stops movement in transport, not as useful for say setting the slider vertical and applying enough friction for it to slowly slide down on it's own, as other sliders might provide. Not impossible, but not easy either.
But the slider itself is fantastic. Provides smooth shots that will work very well. With just a little practice you can push it yourself and make some very high quality shots. Again, for the lowest priced slider, it has produced some high quality shots. Absolutely would buy again and recommend to anyone.
Also keep in mind when purchasing that it's nearly impossible to use any slider without some sort of head on the slider. I purchased a $15 ball head to go on top, works great.

okay, but a disappointment.

at first I thought this thing was the bees knees, it felt pretty smooth and sturdy enough to bludgeon a small animal into a fine pink paste with. yey! the first test I did with a 16mm equiv. lens, and I thought it looked pretty good. looking on the computer though, I see there is a small wobble in the slide, not looseness, just instead of moving in a straight line the camera sled rocks back and forth as it slides. it is really subtle, but at anything over 24mm (and to some extent under it as well) just makes the shots totally unusable. on the plus side, the friction mechanism is really nice, and makes vertical slides easy, but they have the micro wobble too.
I am planning on making my own slider out of some LM76 osg25 sleds and rails, edelkrone style.

Good slider for beginner

I am new to video, and wanted a cheap way to get more out of my videos. I have researched sliders for months and decided to buy this one. So far it works great. It is smooth, but not as smooth as it should be. If you are using a prime lens with no stabilization, then you will notice at times a small amount of jiggle from the unit. ( can be fixed in post). If you use a decent lens or camcorder with stabilization, you can get some really smooth slider shots.
If you are like me and new to this, you will not be disappointed considering the price. This thing seems to be very wall built, and is pretty heavy. You can use it with a tripod, or you can use the legs that comes with it, But again it is heavy and the cheap tripod I have will not hold it steady.
You can also mount it vertical for up and down shots. Overall it is a great buy and I would recommend this product.
