Just like I used to use in a pharmaceutical research lab.

This is lab quality - not student quality. The difference is uniform glass thickness and no bubbles in the glass. I will be using it to grow yeast starters for homebrew beer. If you plan to do the same, the best method is to put the flask with your starter malt in a large pot with a few inches of water to sort of double boil. If you boil over the starter wort (easy with the narrowing neck), you loose the starter wort into the pot rather than all over your cookstove.

I've had and used a few similar flasks over the years which all lasted me quite some time. This one developed a crack while heating after only a little over a month. Not sure how trustworthy these are.
Quality flask at a good price. Packaged very well

Quality flask at a good price. Packaged very well, and I kept the box for storage. Held up to boiling a yeast starter just fine.
Lab Grade Flask
JPedicone•March 14, 2015
I use this for yeast starters for 10 gallon batches of beer. This is a lab grade flask thats why it costs a little more than the ones you get from the homebrew stores. It is almost twice as thick as my 2L flask that I got from a homebrew shop. Most of the homebrew shop flasks are student grade flasks. This is a very thick and sturdy flask.
Great for Home Brewers

I use this flask with a StirStarter stir plate. This is great for making starters for high gravity beers or 10 gallon batches. Glass has no defects, the bottom is very flat and has the same glass expansion rate as Pyrex (33).
