Garbage. Freezes constantly. Gets confused with shiney surfaces or small targets. If you're buying this for the entertainment rigging industry, stay away and buy Hilti. Devours batteries. This is my second one and I about to throw it in the trash. It's the best on paper, but a piece of crud in practice.

I'm an appraiser and my old Disto was much larger and heavier than this model. It was also brighter and had a view finder or "peep sight". This new one runs through batteries like crazy and errors out all the time showing a red exclamation mark and then turning off. The video screen is very hard to read in the Arizona sun. I would gladly trade off all the fancy features of this thing and go back to my old Disto that always worked. I'm measuring homes again with a tape measure again because this one either errors out or has dead batteries.

The battery gets drained after a few hours use. The device freezes up for no apparent reason. I can either wait about 3 minutes for it to reset, or I can remove one of the batteries and it will reset that way. It's hard to see the screen in bright sunlight.
I do like the video camera and the new functions. I would gladly switch to a bigger size chassis for more battery capacity. The Leica Classic style fits more easily into my hands anyway.

A real daylight screen
Visible dot in bright sunlight
More battery capacity.

I have been using a Leica Classic for the past 14 years which has held up very well despite dropping it multiple times. I've been so impressed with the Leica product, I upgraded to the E7500i which is much smaller and does more. As an appraiser trying to keep up with tech, there's no going back to a tape. I'm hoping that this will be the last laser measure I will need purchase before I hang it up. You will pay for it up front, but get it back in time savings.
