Nicely made stand.Giving it a three star,because I really couldn't get it into the position where I wanted it to set. Thought it was going to be a little wider. wanted to put my cd burner on there,doesn't really fit.i will have to come up with something else,but will still have a use for it. One of my main problems was I could not get it to sit where I wanted it to sit on the computer. Kept sliding down. Had to end up putting cardboard on the sleeves to get it to sit where I wanted it to. Was quite amazed for such a little shelf the hours that it took me to attach it.

Installation is simple enough IF you do not want to make subsequent adjustments. I had to choose different inserts after trying the first pair and that first pair took me HOURS to remove from the metal clips. There are no instructions on how to do it, too.

I use this small shelf attached to the back of my iMac to support an external 1 TB flash drive. The unit is easy to install, and comes with adapters for a variety iMac models. The finish matches the Mac perfectly. It can be used either in bare-metal form "“ with many small. perforations to allow air for devices like hard drives that need cooling - or with a supplied flexible, soft and clear plastic sheet that limits some air circulation, but which makes the shelf nonslip. As a third option, Twelve South also supplies for small poles, coated in a colour matched soft touch plastic that can be bolted through the perforations to prevent any device on the shelf from sliding, or if you choose can be arranged to hold narrow items in an upright position.

It broke fairly easily. The little screws seem to have a hexagonal weld, which broke clean off after using this tray for a while. I had to throw it away, which is unfortunate because it otherwise has the appearance and feel of something well made.

One of the best accessories I have ever purchased, and well worth the money if you use an external 2.5" drive (such as a SSD) as a boot device (like I do) or want a hidden and secure place for a permanently-attached drive to your iMac. Very solid and sturdy, and it comes with several plastic inserts of different sizes for the anchor clamps, to allow you to mount is as high or low on your iMac's stand base as you need to. Also has these rubberized "pins" that you can place in any of the hundreds of holes in the tray's surface to secure whatever drive or item you use to place there. They screw in with thumb screws on the underside. Really well-thought-out and nice design.
