The issue was that the fluid shipped with the splitter pretty much turns to candle wax at low temps
Sauron@Mordor•January 23, 2015
It seems to be the theme here....I bought this to replace the hydraulic fluid in my electric log splitter. It calls for ISO 22 hydraulic fluid. The issue was that the fluid shipped with the splitter pretty much turns to candle wax at low temps. By low temps, I'm talking 20-30F. That would cause the splitter to reliably pop a 20 amp circuit breaker as it tried to pump the thickened fluid. Waited for a warm day, dumped the OEM stuff, and filled with this fluid. Wow! It's like a different machine now. Works much better and the new fluid seems to remain work great down at least 5-10F. They claim the pour point is well below zero. I'll take it.
good price per value

Specifically purchased for the use in an electric log-splitter, this item was the least expensive Branded ISO 22 hydraulic fluid on the market. It does what it claims to do!
Good but....

This product was unbelievably difficult to find. Needed it - ISO 22 - for an electric log splitter that I purchased. The fluid is perfect. The only problem was the shipping. When it arrived my wife brought the package in and set it on a table. By the time I got home we had a big mess. The cap was not on tight and the foil that covers the opening under the cap was damaged. Approximately 1/3 leaked out during shipment but didn't show through the box until it arrived. Then it leaked all over our table and onto the floor and carpet. If you order this be careful when you get it.
