Works as expected. Plug and play. Comes with 12v power supply, USB cable, CyberLink Media Suite 10 software CD, and instruction/limited warranty pamphlets. The power supply is of the external "wall wart" variety and measures 5 ft 8 in (173 cm). The USB cable measures at 3 ft 6 in (107 cm). I did not try out the Media Suite software disc at all.
The main unit has 4 rubber "feet" that wrap around the the sides allowing one to set it vertically or horizontally (although I'd recommend setting it horizontally). The top and front have a smooth glossy finish and the bottom and sides have a textured ribbed look. The unit feels solid and sturdy. There is a single LED that lights up when reading/writing, an eject button, and a manual eject mechanism accessible using a paper clip or similar tool.

I can't express how happy I am with this piece of equipment. The second you take it out of the box you know you're holding a well constructed, heavy duty piece of computer equipment. Installation was a snap and took less than 1 minute to be up and running. I didn't bother to install the DVD writer software provided as I have a favorite I always use. The software disc also comes with other packages if you choose to use them. But if you already have a DVD burner software you're ready to go the second you plug it into your computer.
I burned a DVD first thing. WOW, what a difference in speed than the same speed DVD burner built into my computer. What took me up to 8 minutes to burn in the computer DVD burner took right at 4 with the LG unit. To sum up this purchase, I am ecstatic!

Quiet, fast, and heavy so doesn't scoot around on your desk when you press the eject button.
This is probably the best external CD/DVD drive I've used yet, and I've tried the Apple Mega disc drive thing,....
I love it how this unit uses a standard desktop size Disc tray, and so if it breaks after the warranty is up, I can just pay like $20 and get a new desktop disc drive, and pop it into the bay.

Great unit for back up of DVR surveillance recordings. Fast

Used for my client DVR to back up DVD after recording interview from DVR system (surveillance). Connection to DVR system was plug and play and this unit is much faster that previous LG I had at location. (It was a slim model). Professional look also.

Forget about the few negative reviews! This unit is 5 stars all the way! Great packaging,very well protected,straightforward plug and play,very high quality hard plastic,and it is very quiet! Forget the enclosed software disk,though!
