Worked well for a rebuild of an old AMF road bike. Item came as advertised and was easy to install. I no longer have the bike but it was a big improvement over the old single piece crank. Also nice that it opened up a whole world of options as far as crank arms and chainrings. I can't speak to how it compares with the BB adapters that allow the use of sealed units, but this was more than adequate.

This was a project that I had in mind for a year , to change my cranks from 1 piece to 2 piece ,,, after a mishap on the road I bent my right side crank my LBS told me it was a difficult and costly, so I did the job myself , after I looked at the reviews , I bought this BB replacement and new crank set, and it worked better then I expected , my bike is fairly new so my bearing races are in good condition , so I kept them in and just replaced the crank shaft and bearings , don't forget to use plenty OF
grease ,BB install was all of 20 mins . if you do the job yourself do your homework , take your measurements , Youtub it , get all the tools you'll need ahead of time , the removal of the old crank and install of the new BB and crank set , took about an hour . Will update performance as I go along , but this was so much easier then I excepted . before and after pictures .

I purchased this item to go with a Shimano M191 front chainring set which is part of an overhaul project I am working on. I am upgrading and replacing parts on my old Huffy White Hawk to breathe new life into it. Also on the repair replace roster are the rims, tires, inner tubes, the freewheel, all shifting components and all brake components. When it is done it will be reborn as an 18 speed with SIS shifting, upgraded from the old, venerable and rusted 10 speed setup it currently has.

While I would have given it five stars as everything fits the frame of this old bike, I was surprised to find that mine did not have fixing bolts as clearly shown in the picture. (Look at the very ends of the assembly). A trip to the local bike shop was not a big inconvenience. But just to be on the safe side, order a set of 8mm fixing bolts (or whatever is appropriate for your application) or the cranks will simply fall off. I recommend bringing the parts to the shop, as I did, to make sure everything matches up if this is your first time doing this. It saves time and frustration.

First time I've even installed after market. So far so good but what do I know? I'm just some dude.

Chose this over the truvativ conversion for my sons bottom bracket on his old Schwinn mountain bike when we chunked the one piece crank and went to a three piece crank on it. It is a quality item. Just be sure the bearing cups are fully seated in the bottom bracket and then take your time getting the final adjustment right when installing the bearings and spindle. Make sure you get the right length.
