Balance? Backward mounted plate?

I am new to this DSLR Rig setups, yet with my limited experience, I looked for an affordable alternative to trying to hold a DSLR steady for a long period of time where a tripod is not an option. This being said, anything to take the weight off of your forearms and biceps would be required. I found that when I assembled the Rig as in the pictures and diagrams, it made the rig "NOSE" heavy. It did not rest on my shoulders and I found myself constantly correcting it to hold it with my wrists tipping it back and into my shoulder. I was wearing myself out just keeping this Rig balanced. As you can see in the pictures, the plate that doubles as your Hand Grip mount and the actual camera mount is shown with the camera platform forward and in FRONT (NOSE) direction. I took the Grips and Platform bracket off and reversed the handles and re attached the bracket with the camera platform BACKWARD to the pictures shown, in this way the camera was mounted BEHIND the grips and the weight was redistributed towards me and my shoulder. I reattached the grips, after I took the grips off and remounted them, again with the idea of getting the grips in front of the weight instead of behind the weight. Once I reversed the grips and the camera platform and assembled it with a logic aimed at balance and support it was a HUGE difference. I can understand the more expensive rigs having separate camera platforms and Grip mounts.

Not bad for the money. Have used it for about 2 months now on 5-6 occasions. Good stabilizer for walking around and taking shots. Even the follow focus setup is good enough to use. I like that it is modular - meaning you can add and remove parts depending on what you need and are doing. I'm using it for a commercial project that I'm producing. At a previous employer, I had used an expensive unit similar to this one - and I think that this does everything the other one does. Would buy it again.

Very sturdy. I got the one that includes the handle on top, which I highly recommend (makes it extremely easy to pick it back up or set it down, rather than bending all the way down all the time). The follow focus is also really accurate, you just have to make sure it's nice and snug with the camera lens (it worked well with both my Canon lenses and my vintage lenses). Works with both my Canon 70D and my Panasonic GH-2. The only complaint I have is with the shoulder pad, which I wish curved over your entire shoulder rather than just setting on the top of it. I will see if I can upgrade this part, but otherwise, it's a great kit at a great price.

Came with no instructions on how to put together, but I was able to find a video on YouTube. Easy to put together, but not so easy to make it perfect for my camera, a lot of of the knobs conflict with each other when trying to get things just right. The shoulder brace could be better, but it gets the job done.
Besides all those issues, the performance is great, works well with my Nikon 3200. My camera has no in body stabilization, this helps out a lot.
If they could fix the issues with assembly, I would give 5 stars
