Natural Value Sliced Black Olives are a quality product but what sets them apart is that these olives do not include ferrous gluconate. This is an additive that helps retain the black color of black olives. Ferrous gluconate is water soluble iron salt of gluconic acid. (This is a form of glucose, not gluten!) It's also what you would take in an iron supplement. While not un-heathly per se, it is sometimes made from corn or potato acid which is not detailed in common ingredient lists. So people trying to avoid corn or potato for allergy concerns may wish to avoid this additive altogether. Neither the texture nor taste of these olives are any different from other olives with ferrous gluconate. Given they have a great shelf life, one case will last in your pantry until you are ready to use them.

Natural Value Sliced Black Olives, 2.25 Ounce Cans (Pack of 24) . I purchased these and got a discount due to a combination of "subscribe and save" and an Amazon coupon. Taking that into consideration, they were still about the same price as the local market. The quality was decent but not quite as flavorful and they were a little smaller than most of the "name brands". All in all, they were OK but I certainly would not pay the full price as they just weren't that good due lack of flavor. Not bad, but I can better in the local market for about the same price as with the discounts. Probably won't purchase these again.
