This review is for the Kindle Fire HD - it runs very smoothly. No lagging or glitches. Music is just like I remember it.. the graphics are like eye candy :) very nicely done!!

1) At first, I thought there was a glitch. I uninstalled it from the device (because my screen timed out, thought it caused an issue), and then downloaded it again, to find out, it wasn't a glitch, it was just lack of directions in the game, on how to use it in the Kindle, for walking.

the issue:
*- to walk; place your finger on the screen, it makes a circle, use it to walk with. (yeah, simple, some probably figured that out sooner, but I was trying to make sure I didn't mess anything up while playing the first part - so I only touched minimal, and when it asked you to get out of the car, walk to the hotel door, it didn't tell you how to (for the Kindle & I'm used to game controllers) so I'm sitting there clicking on Tony trying to move him, pinching, swiping, anything, so figured it was due to my screen timing out, caused a glitch in downloading, so uninstalled it then reinstalled it..once it was running again, I figured it out by accident, it wasn't a glitch, all you have to do is just touch the screen and that circle comes up .. and that was my "well duhh" moment) x) ...easy.

2) It took awhile to download (but I had my screen to black out/lock at a certain time; once I turned that to an hour - it downloaded in about 5 to 7 minutes, just as stated)

3) haven't tried shooting yet so not sure how that goes. (haven't found my weapon yet)

4) I have noticed that you can't get the hookers in your car (I like getting them in there, taking them to a place and bashing their brains in/killing them with my fist, baseball bat, chainsaw, whatever - yeah, call me psycho - whatever; we all play this game for a reason!!) :) but in this version for Kindle, haven't figured that out yet (how to get them in the car) even if I can, but until then, running them over is okay, I suppose. -> yeah, I did this within the first 10 minutes of playing. Noticed this right off. x)

5) driving within the Kindle takes some getting used to. It gives you two choices, with arrows, or with circle. It's harder for me using the circle. :)

6) it gives you options to set your buttons as you want, big, small, wherever you'd like. :) that's nice!

7) it's just like the version that I have for computer and PS2. Even the music. (expectation; controls)

It's a must get for any GTA fan!! :)
My Tip: Plug your device in to be charged via wall. Set your device to timeout at an hour, and let it sit until it's finished. Don't do anything else with it. - it will help the download of this game. Once download is complete, set the timeout back to what you want.

To help on lagging or something like that (I didn't have lagging, but from experience with new games, I did this anyway): I recommend, once you've downloaded the game, start the game, let it run through the opening credits and music. Once you see 'play game', exit out, then restart the game and then play it as usual :) - if that still doesn't work, try shutting down things and even restarting your Kindle.

(I'll update, as necessary, once I get more involved in the game) - Sept. 4th, 2013.
5 Stars - Play GTA on the go!

I've only played this app for a bit so far, but so far it is classic Grand Theft Auto (GTA). I've only played GTAIII and GTAIV (and plan to play GTAV), and GTA Vice City is more similar to GTAIII than GTAIV. After having gotten used to playing GTAIV, I realized how big of a change GTAIV was compared to its predecessors.
Other than noticing that, the only other thing I noticed (and the reason I am writing this review) is that they switch how you control your person when you enter a car. When you are outside of a car, you control your movement via a circle similar to a joystick on the PS3 remote in the lower left hand of the screen. When you get in a car, it switches to just a right and left arrow key, which in my opinion is more difficult to control than the joystick-like circle. I do not understand why they did not keep the circle for driving vehicles, and think it would have improved the game if they did. Obviously, the circle is not 100% perfect, either, but one cannot expect using an app to be the same as playing a PS3 game, but I still feel the circle while driving vehicles would be a major improvement.
So that is why I docked 0.25 star. Other than that, so far it would have earned 5 stars. A great GTA app that is about as close as you'll get to having the PS3 on a tablet, and as I said in the title, now you can play GTA on the go! And for only $4.99!

UPDATE:
Just noticed that if you go to Options -> Controls, you can change "Use Analog Steering" from "Off" to "On", which then changes the driving from the arrow keys to an analog stick like the PS3 controllers have, which takes care of my one complaint mentioned before.
GTA fun on a Kindle??? Yes it is!!!

First off I had a promo of 500 coins so this download for me was free, and so trying this GTA series game was an easy choice. I've played all the games throughout all the different game system counsels pretty much from day 1, so I really didn't expect a lot - but boy was I wrong. This really is a darned good transfer of the original game to the Kindle device. The most important point I can make is to get into the menu and set up the controls to your liking - it is imperative to do this or you will get frustrated quickly trying to control Tommy, the vehicles (particularly the plane/helicopter)& weapons. Once you play with how large and where on the screen you like the controls to be placed you will see an immediate improvement over the app's standard control settings. I suggest you use auto aim too and the tap to shoot setting.
I would have given it a 5 star but the aim control for the guns with sites and the flying of the r/c helicopter in one of the levels would only allow me the 4 stars
Other than these suggestions that is about all I want to add.
Enjoy!
BEST GAME ON KINDLE!!!

This was one of my favorite games on Playstation 2 and this IS my favorite game in the entire Grand Theft Auto series. This runs pretty well on the 7 inch Kindle Fire HD. There are display setting for various resolutions and draw distance and texture effects. It does lag a bit with everything set to max so I turn a few things down, it still looks and plays fantastically.

The biggest perk for me was being able to plug my Fire to my TV and play it like a console. I tried using my Nyko Playpad Pro, however I was only able to move my character around, nothing else. I went to Gamestop today and purchased the Red Samurai Android controller. It works great on the Kindle Fire and it works very nicely with Vice City. So far there are only two things I can't figure out how to do with the controller. You can't target an enemy without shooting at them. It's a minor thing but when you're trying to knock off stores it's a bit annoying. I also can't figure out how to make Tommy lean forward on motorcycles to make them go faster. Even when I used the touch controls I can't figure it out. (makes some of the Unique Jumps impossible). I'm sure it can be done, I'm just not sure how.

This was a great game when it was first released and it still is today. The amount of fun you'll get for $4.99 is a steal.
