I have to carry a tank stick for my job, this one folds up and can be stored in a 2 inch piece of PVC. I added an extra segment for those really deep tanks and it still fits in the PVC pipe. I keep it in the PVC and keep the PVC capped with rubber caps to help keep the diesel smell out of my vehicle.
This stick is like a bunch of yardsticks attached with pivots so that it folds like a carpenter's rule.
