This is the best candler I've found. Usually you have to be in a dark room to candle. Not with this one. I Love it, and would highly recommend it to anyone that hatches eggs in an incubator!

I have the high intensity candler from Brinsea which I love (I basically love all their products). This one I *do* like but if you don't have the egg positioned just right and try to turn it it will tip and fall inside the scope. Depending on where you are candling (and how many)- generally you want to go as fast as you can (but very carefully) so the eggs aren't disturbed more than is necessary. I like it for eggs that are hard to get a good view into or when you are trying to see without complete darkness; but you sacrifice a little control of the egg. Probably best for use with incubators when you are in a controlled environment and not checking under a broody/or an environment that is more chaotic.

I know this scope is pricey but it is worth it. I was able to CLEARLY candle brown and colored chicken eggs to determine if I had viable embryos. Plus, the egg is secured within the housing as you turn it so the chances of breaking your precious eggs is lower than when using the "stick" style of scope. (For novices, set your expectations. Candling after the embryo is well developed doesn't work with any layman's light scope. The chicks bodies are tightly packed into the egg and become too dense for light to pass through. You won't see what you see in a sonogram!)

This is incredible! I'd been using a high intensity regular flashlight but some of my eggs were darker and I couldn't see into them! I gave in and bought this and I absolutely love it! It has everything you need; the candler, 2 sleeves that fit around the light for different sized eggs and the viewer for an even closer, clearer look at the egg! I love this thing!!
