but we would have done better to send it back as that was a harbinger ...
Shannon A.•December 25, 2016
A *terrible* quality bike with *terrible* customer service. It arrived non-functional, with no resistance on the wheel. Before we'd ever used it, we were forced to get a mechanic out here to fix it. *That* was covered by warranty, but we would have done better to send it back as that was a harbinger of things to come. It then sat mostly (but not entirely) unused for the rest of the year. When we had to swap the batteries about 11 months out, it stopped working again: once more, no resistance on the wheel. Schwinn wanted to guide us through taking apart the entirely bike to try and realign the brakes, and there was no way that was happening. They then revealed that the warranty on labor was for only 60 days (which you won't find in the description), and so we needed to hire someone to fix the problem.
So we've now got a $250 paper weight that probably had a few hours of use. I would *NEVER* buy a Schwinn product again, because the quality was so horrible.

Soild Bike

As the title says the bike is solidly built. The instructions to build it were simple and the parts were clearly marked. I was using an old fan bike but after years of use it was falling apart so take the following with the grain of salt, I'm already maxing my workouts resistance level, don't get me wrong I can feel the burn but was hoping for a little more resistance. The other reason I bought this bike was that the fan bike is noisy. This bike so silent I can exercise while watching TV without bothering anyone, so I'm hoping to have more time on the bike so hopefully it will all equal out.
Pros - Easy to assemble, quality build, silent
Cons - Was expecting a bit more resistance
Update: I don't think the resistance is working I will call tech support
Second update - It was broken, tech support was great, but with the Schwinn 230's decrease in price it was worth my while to send it back, and get the upgraded model rather than wait for the replacement part

Budget Priced, High Quality Product

This recumbent exercise bike is a quality product. It is well designed, well made and operates precisely. We bought the Schwinn because it provides a very good display, many pre-programmed "rides" and allows the rides to be customized. I was concerned the less expensive A20 might compromise quality compared to the higher priced Schwinns, but such is not the case. It is solid and feels like quality. It takes over an hour to assemble, but the directions are pretty straight forward. If you have your own tools it will go a little quicker, but all the basic tools needed to put it together are included, Also, two people would be able to put it together quicker than one. You'll need 4 "D" size batteries to operate it. Alkaline will work the best. I plan to buy the transformer so it can be operated directly from household current. The seat (the bottom cushion and the cushioned back) slide forward and backward together along the frame and can be adjusted by loosening a screw knob under the seat and sliding the seat/back so the knob is aligned with a hole in the frame that is either closer or further from the pedals. It is extremely quiet so listening to the radio, or music or the television is not a problem. This unit is long, about 5 ft. 5 in. It weighs in at 76 lbs. but can be moved by picking up the back and rolling it on the end caps on the front stabilizer. It will take a little practice to master the buttons that set up just the workout you want, but the options make the workout more interesting and challenging. We live in the desert in Arizona. For months at a time it is too hot to comfortably walk outdoors, so this is a great way to get a workout and keep our legs moving.
Wow - what a piece of crap! Twice!

Wow - what a piece of crap. I bought this bike because I have an older Schwinn recumbent exercycle which I have used almost daily for at least ten years and it is still going strong. Also, I bought it used so who knows how many miles it had on it before I got it. Well that was the old Schwinn before they were acquired by Nautilus. I wanted another recumbent exercycle for a vacation home. I bought this bike, spent an hour and a half putting it together and it did nothing. The console lit up but there was no change in resistance no matter how high the level. I spoke to Nautilus tech support and spent another hour and a half with them doing troubleshooting ( basically taking parts of the bike apart and putting them back together). They diagnosed it as a bad motor which is supposed to drive the magnet assembly closer and farther from the flywheel to change resistance. At this time I was on vacation at the vacation home and had planned to be able to exercise the two weeks I was going to be there. Nautilus said they would send out a new motor in 4 to 9 days and I was supposed to replace it. When I asked why I was being the repair person for a brand new bike they conceded that labor would be covered under the warranty and I could contact them to send a tech when i received the motor. Since my vacation would be well over by then I declined and decided to send the bike back to Amazon. Of course, this meant disassembling the bike and doing my best to get it back in the packaging which was no mean feat. Amazon cheerfully sent me a replacement bike which I then spent an hour and a half assembling. What do you know. It had the same problem. Clearly I did not want another of these pieces of crap so I told Amazon I would return the bike and spent more time disassembling and repacking the second bike. Amazon told me they were going to remove the bike from the website until they could confirm that there weren't defects in all the stock but that didn't seem to happen. So if you don't want to spend days of your life assembling and disassembling a crappy exercycle I suggest you choose another brand altogether.
Fantastic bike - rider with spinal stenosis and herniated disks
S. Sutton•January 25, 2015
2016.04.28 Edit: I'm dropping it from 5 stars to 4, mostly because of the size. This thing is just HUGE and it doesn't fold at all. Over time it's become increasingly "in the way" and difficult to store when not in use. If you have a dedicated gym, probably no big deal, but we don't and it's become a headache over time. Still rides great though!
Fantastic bike. I have spinal stenosis and herniated disks, I mention it because I wasn't able to find any reviews from riders with bad back pain (specifically lower back pain). I have to be very careful with run-of-the-mill activities or they will leave me in excruciating pain (ex: slouch in my office chair for an hour at work... I'll pay for it for a week or longer).
I've been using the bike nightly and am happy to report that it is very comfortable for a rider with a bad lower back. The seat back is nice and stiff, with lots of support. The angle of the seat is comfortable, not too reclined and not too straight up-and-down.
It's very easy to ride and the computer controlled workouts are worth the few extra bucks. Pick a routine, set the time, and it will vary the resistance for you.
