The BEST way to learn guitar!
Ken M.✓ Verified Purchase•January 3, 2017
Let me start by saying that the product did arrive when it was supposed to, packaged well and complete.
I have been learning how to play guitar for the last few years, and did manage to learn a lot of the basics, a few techniques, and was generally able to follow along with a jam session. In the week that I've had Rocksmith, I've learned more than I did using today's more conventional methods. I'm better with string skipping, chord progression, and even harmonics thanks to the Guitarcade mini games that are a feature of the game. The "Learn a song" mode works with the user progressively until proficiency is obtained. I'm sure to have a lot more to say about Rocksmith, but I figured I'd give my opinion ASAP. GOOD PURCHASE!!

I am an intermediate guitar player, and I can play a lot of these songs by myself, but who would want to? With Rocksmith you get to learn songs you didn't know, discover songs you might not have otherwise thought to learn and play it all with a band. If you have ever tried to run your iPod through your amp or stereo and try to sync it so you can play along you know what a headache it is.
If you are brand new to the guitar, you can pick it up with this game and never put it down. The little games it has to help improve basic (and even some advanced) techniques, and they are engaging enough that you will play for an hour or two and it will feel like fifteen minutes.
Finally, the downloadable content, (which can hit your wallet kinda hard) ensures that you don't have to get bored with the song selection, as there are many, many more available to choose from. Just be sure to browse the packs before the individual songs as you can save money buying the song packs rather than the individual tracks.

The most fun way to learn to play the guitar, hands down

I am only a couple months in, but I am amazed at both how much fun Rocksmith has been and how much I have learned. I've tried learning guitar in the past, but I don't have the discipline for pushing through the "sucking" phase. This game helps you work past that by gradually building everything up for you, first by simply getting comfortable moving along the fretboard, then by incorporating power chords or simple chords, and then finally by getting into hammer-ons/offs and more complex technique. As songs that you have already played become more complex, there's a real sense of accomplishment, which helped push me through the most awkward parts.
One aspect of Rocksmith that I hadn't appreciated at all that I think would appeal to people who already can play the guitar is the jam session mode. You can improvise with a backing band that responds to your phrasing. Not only can it teach you to solo in different modes, but it's simply fun to rock out for awhile with a "band" for folks who might not have a garage full of friends ready to jam.
I have had almost no problems with the interface, minus some issues with the low-E that I think are related to my playing. I have experienced no delay whatsoever with how I have my audio set up (HDMI to TV, with optical audio from TV to speaker), which makes the whole experience very smooth.
There are a ridiculous assortment of tone options for your guitar, which probably means something for gearheads, particularly in the jam session, but I am not at all at that point of knowledge or caring to really appreciate the insane collection of pedals, amps, etc. included in the game. However, I think it's yet another aspect of the experience that even experienced guitar players could appreciate about Rocksmith.

Wow..Let me start by saying, I am about to turn 52..still a woman that loves makeup, having my hair done and yet here I am waiting to get callouses on my left hand so I can play Rocksmith even better!
Call it middle age crises or just dreaming of one day being called up to play lead guitar with Led Zeppelin..lol..But since I had never picked up an electric guitar and didn't know the difference between a note and chord, I didn't feel I would learn anything. I wanted to, but where would I start?
Bought an electric guitar ( mini-Fender) and Rocksmith. My life changed! My life?.. yeah because who knew at my age I would be able to play Foo Fighter's Everlong in one week!!??..Well I can and thanks to Rocksmith, I know my basic chords.
I am so darn happy to have gotten this as an early birthday present to myself.
Get it and thank you Ubisoft! Can't wait for more expansion packs and more songs I can purchase. Money so well spent. Off I go to learn Radiohead's Karma Police.

My son and I have been working with this game for a few days now and we both love it. The game is just that- it is a game. However, as a game it is the perfect medium for us to learn to play the guitar together. The game keeps it fun and we maintain a conviction to stick with it even when it is frustratingly hard. I have always wanted to learn to play the guitar but I have never been able to discipline myself enough to sit for hours on end picking at the strings in an attempt to learn the basics. This game is a game-changer in that respect. I should note that I tried to use my acoustic guitar to no avail. The game does NOT recognize the pitch of the acoustic and therefore is incompatible with anything other than an electric guitar. I have an expensive pick-up and acoustic guitar and yet there are people on here with cheap crap saying they can play this game with their acoustic. I don't know how that is being done but just to give you a heads up I couldn't do it and this game is not designed for acoustic.
