Excellent Finderscope
War EagleJune 25, 2017
This finderscope is an absolute necessity. The illuminated double-crosshairs make it very easy to center an object. The corrected view makes it much easier to slew to an object. Fit and finish are excellent. This is a rugged high-quality instrument. Well worth the purchase price.
Nice addition to my Celestron telescope

Attached just as shown but with some work as the instructions were pretty sparse.
Instructions do no say what the one adjustment screw is supposed to do.
The other two work as normal.
I am guessing it is there to help with shocks or bumps but I don't know for sure.
Aligned easily without having to max out the adjustment screws.
Good but not perfect

I got this because I found the red dot finder (RDF) was not accurate enough when doing calibrations, or in finding objects when using my camera. With this finder, the two clear nights so far, I was able to locate my objects far quicker, lessening my frustrations. The reason I did not give this five stars is this. It seems every time you mount the RACI, you need to re-calibrate it. The included mount is not as accurate as the RDF rails, which is disappointing, or am I doing something wrong?

The pics are my NexStar 8 SE with both finders mounted, and binocular viewers, and the second is the RACI in my Pelican case with the mount.

High quality finderscope, a huge upgrade from the stock red light finder. The only thing complicated is the initial setup, but if you do it in daylight is really easy. You have to use the 3 screws in the rear of the scope to adjust the finderscope while the OTA is aligned with a distant, static object.

Now, I can attach this finderscope, and I know that I'll be aligned from the start, so I can align the telescope in less time.
I hate (and my back and neck hate) straight through finders
Fred E. Lusk IIIDecember 12, 2015
I bought this last year for my Celestron CPC-800 to replace the straight-through finder that came with the scope. Even though a CPC scope only really needs a finder for initial alignment, I hate (and my back and neck hate) straight through finders. I had found a RACI finder from another company that kind of fit the Celestron bracket, but it wasn't the best solution. IMHO, the CPC finder scope bracket is the best in the industry (it holds alignment from session to session better than all the others I have seen), so I didn't want to ditch the bracket for another kind just to get a RACI finder. I was thrilled when Celestron put this item on the market and I have been completely satisfied with it.
