Easy to install

Easy to install. Great for using to recharge dehumidifiers which have sealed copper lines and no way to add Freon. Great value!
It works

Works on the smaller line of a room AC. Does not fit the larger, low pressure line which is what needs to be charged the most. Those are available from Sears. If you buy both, evacuate the lines and do the job right, your room AC will work like new. Watch YouTube for instructions, but remember: you must do both the high and the low side of the AC unit and you must have a vacuum pump and guage set. This is all available on Amazon and is still cheaper than one window AC. If you have to redo more than one, you will be money ahead. (Brazing leaks in the lines is also easy and small brazing tools on Amazon can do that too.) REMEMBER to clean the cooling fins first. That may be your whole problem. Use a brass brush, also available on Amazon. (Is anything not available on Amazon except good customer loyalty from the company?)
Excellent.

These are impossible to find in real brick-and-mortar stores, I had looked everywhere before Amazon saved the day (Home Depot, Autozone, Lowes, ACE Hardware, Harbor Freight).
This thing is amazing, I was able to refill my old freezer which is factory brazed closed, I put this on the low-pressure side line, and cranked down the center piercing screw and filled it up!
You might also need "Interdynamics (VA-1L) Retrofit Valve for 7/16" Low Side Port" if you're intending to use R134a with this valve. Copy and paste that product into Amazon's search and buy both, you'll be rockin in no-time.

Worked great to recharge old refrigerator. I had to add to adapt it to fit the car AC hose fitting. This is the second one of these I've used and it can't be beat for getting longer life out of old leaky appliances. The other is connected to a wine cooler and that one was taken off a stand alone ice maker. The ice maker had to large of a leak so I had to dispose of it but I did keep the piercing valve...
Note: Please try and find the charge amount plate on either the inside cabinet or on the compressor or wherever it's located to find the correct amount and type of refrigerant to add. Mine is full sized and only holds 5oz. so don't just dump a full can in unless you know it can hold more then that. Start small and work your way up to the plate amount. The evap coil in my freezer was only frosted on the first 12" before I added a few ounces. I let that work it's way through for about an hour and noticed it was still only frosting about 2' of the coil. I then added a few more ounces and after an hour or two it still only frosted about half the coil. I knew from my plate that it only held 5 oz total so I just let that run overnight and by morning the whole coil frosted but it didn't frost the suction line at the compressor so I feel good about the charge.

Nice valve, make sure to read the direction twice.

I recently installed this valve on my 18 year old fridge and it worked perfectly. I was sceptical at first because I didn't see a Schrader valve installed in it, but after reading the directions a couple of times I learned the piercing valve also plays as the shutoff valve when your done servicing the devices.
Make sure to clean the area of the tubing you plan on installing this valve but don't use sand paper as it will leave scratches in the tubing which will more than likely result in a leak. I personally used 00 steelwool and lightly to polished the tubing of dirt and then followed by wiping it down with a paper towel with a little break parts cleaner which doesn't leave any residue. After installing this and topping off my fridge I checked the connection with a refrigerant leak detector and found none.
I would highly recommend this valve and I even ordered a second valve to keep on hand as a spare for future use.
