GREAT RARE STUFF

Although I have most of this stuff on other comps I picked this up because the price was right (under 12 buck including shipping). Unfortunately the sound quality is mostly atrocious. I don't have a problem with mastering from 45s if it's done competently. Here it sound like almost every record they used is worn out. There is obtrusive snap crackle and pop on about half the cuts. Other cuts sound muffled like they may have been copied from other CDs (I've never heard Link's "Comanche" sound so lifeless). I expect audio issues on comps of pre-war 78s but not on singles from the sixties. Also, the compilers name check The Cramps claiming this stuff is "from the vault of Lux and Ivy". There have been several series making that claim over the years, "Songs The Cramps Taught Us", "Born Bad" etc. All of those are better than this. I would recommend you track down the 3 CD series "Songs The Cramps Taught Us". It's "unofficial" but vastly superior to this ostensibly legitimate release. I should mention that there is another "Cramps" themed cash-in comp on this "Righteous" label "The Incredibly Strange Music Box" which is actually pretty good...better sound and more uncomped tunes.

good cd

This cd is more than I expected. The selection of songs is amazing. Some songs that I remember and new one to enjoy. The artists that created the collection did an amazing job.
